Optimally managing data is an essential part of the service we provide to our customers. To that end, our DBA team designs and maintains database structures used by our entire engineering area, defining policies and procedures to ensure data is kept secure and reliable. As Database Administrator, you’ll join a collaborative, flexible environment to take on the challenges of managing a sophisticated structure of ever-expanding data.
Your challenges and objectives:
- Identify opportunities to improve our databases for: security, performance, scalability, reliability.
- Gain a strong understanding of solid database design.
- Develop a capacity to detect and diagnose situations with databases in critical productive environments, look for the proper solution and understand when action is warranted.
- Stay up-to-date on possible technologies and tools we could use to improve our data architecture, structures and processes.
- Become familiarized with our policies and the needs of our various development teams to propose effective and compliant data solutions.
- Design and foresee solutions and optimizations for an ever-growing enterprise application.
Your day-to-day activities:
- Design, write, and improve scripts to automate database administration and operate database tasks.
- Support other teams by advising them on writing queries and creating, optimizing, and implementing structures for application development or any other DB-related decision.
- Perform database tuning and performance monitoring.
- Work with MySQL features to find the best configuration for our project.
- Set and monitor policies, procedures, and standards of database management, access, and security.
- Iterate on procedures to make them more robust, automatic, and reliable.
About you:
- Fluent in English (oral and written).
- Enthusiastic about understanding and analyzing complex problems.
- Eager to find solutions for those problems by seeing a broader picture and connecting the dots.
- Excellent communicator.
- Ideally, a technical degree or background related to computer science or software engineering.
