As the Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for the overall Optus sales target allocated to your Region.

Reporting to the Sales Manager, and as a Business Development Manager you will need to be highly motivated, upbeat with a can-do positive attitude to exceed business targets and implement strategies to grow market share in the 50-299 FTE segment. The role will involve working closely with a designated Solutions Consultant to drive whole-of-business sales and extend market reach.

A consistent track record of success in sales, face-to-face solution selling, and prospecting new customer opportunities is vital and success in this role will be evident through the achievement of business targets such as new gross ads in mobiles, mobile broadband, fixed voice/data.

The BDM must have the ability to effectively differentiate from our competitors in the experience that Optus can provide customers and to engage with Senior Executives across a range of SMB (Small to medium size business) organizations

  • You will be a true hunter, with a customer centric approach.
  • Development, implementation, and improvement of tactical segmentation to support the acquisition of new customers
  • Lead the development of a balanced and sustainable pipeline to deliver long term sales goals.

  • Deliver upon agreed sales targets in acquisition of new Business customers
  • Manage the development of a balanced and sustainable pipeline to deliver long term sales goals.
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships with internal and external partners
  • Understanding of global and national trends and issues affecting the mobile, fixed, and digital sector


  • 5 -10 years of Senior Business Development and/or Account Management experience
  • Sound understanding of what drives the business commercially
  • The generation of new business and the growth of existing accounts or industry segments
  • Experience in operating in both relationship and transactional sales and marketing environment
  • Sound commercial and eye for business with experience in positioning value propositions to customers
  • Confirmed sales track record in achieving growth through acquisition strategies and sales teams and customer loyalty through strong relationships
  • Strong presentation and communication skills - written & verbal to internal and external senior executives
  • Understanding of mobile, fixed line and data solutions within the SMB market – desirable.
  • Extensive new business / strategic sales experience within the Telecommunications and/or IT sectors highly regarded but all industry experience is desirable.
  • Knowledge skills & Management of internal relationships (desirable)
  • Strong product and industry knowledge would be an advantage
  • Salesforce and MS office programs / Full Salesforce training provided
