As R&D Engineer, you will join our Technology Center in Spain, an organization leading continuous research and development activities on transformers. As part of our R&D Technology Center, you will contribute to the development of projects related to 3D printing activities in transformers. As a member of a highly skilled Technology Center, part of the global Hitachi Energy R&D community, you will run projects and contribute to the successful roadmap execution.

Your responsibilities

  • Identify transformers components that may be produced with 3D printing technology.
  • Analyze the functionality and technical requirements of the components to be produced and execute modifications in geometry and/or material composition to fit to available 3D printing technology
  • Design and optimize the printing procedure of each component to be manufactured
  • Define and perform the corresponding validation test for each component, both separately as well as in conjunction with other components of the transformer (power, distribution and dry transformers)
  • Supervision of the manufacturing and testing of the prototypes
  • Perform detailed cost analysis for each component to be analyzed and prepare the documentation of the tested components and derive the design rules of the validated solutions
  • Oversee the correct functionality of the available 3D printers (maintenance, upgrades, …)
  • Lead the RD project execution, to ensure the performance, time and cost are within the expectations
  • Provide support to factories

Your background

  • A MS or PhD in Engineering. A BD maybe considered depending on experience.
  • At least 3 years’ experience with industrial 3D printers
  • Solid knowledge in CAD modelling software (preferably CREO)
  • Experience with 3D printing software (preferably Simplify)
  • Knowledge in plastics engineering and other materials is highly valued
  • Experience in design of power, distribution or dry transformers shall be well valued
  • Fluent in Spanish and English, both written and spoken
  • Initiative, creativity and great attention to detail
  • Collaborative, solution-oriented approach and strong communication skills
