The power conversion team develops and implements power electronics-based equipment and systems including Static Compensators (STATCOMs) and frequency converter systems in the power range up to 150 MVA and above. These are used by power utilities and industries with applications including static compensation for renewables and industries, railway power supplies, grid interties and hydro pumped-storage power plants. To manage the motivated team, we are looking for an experienced and dedicated Control Engineering manager with good knowledge and interest in power electronics, power systems, control engineering and development as well as simulations of such systems. Your responsibilities

  • Manage a team of Control Engineers to deliver high quality, cost effective and timely engineering solutions to Customers. Prepare control design proposals and estimates during project sales phase.
  • Support and perform control design of power electronic converter systems (FACTS) such as Static Compensators (STATCOMs), Static Frequency Converters (SFC) during project execution with team guidance and own contributions.
  • Lead engineers dedicated to closed loop control engineering and maintenance locally and from global engineer-ing. Ensure close collaboration with a second control engineering team. Define and implement operating guide-lines for team and oversee progress within own area of responsibility.
  • Implement and update engineering processes on a continued basis. Ensure engineering processes are followed from team and ensure close, efficient collaboration with other Engineering teams (in particular a second control engineering team), Sales, Supply Chain and Project Management.
  • Ensure knowhow within Control Engineering is continuously shared, updated, expanded and maintained within the team(s) (visits of conferences, technical committee participations, publications).
  • Ensure close collaboration with T&SD functions involved in control development, modelling and simulations of converter systems.
  • Take responsibility for team organization, planning, staffing as well as budgeting.

Your background

  • Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with focus in Power Systems and Power Electronics.
  • You bring great knowledge in the field of control design, power electronics and/or power systems. Experience as Control Engineer for power electronics and with Software Matlab Simulink are a plus.
  • Strong communication and people skills with high focus on internal and external Stakeholders and their needs.
  • Eagerness for learning and innovation, readiness of mind for the use of various new tools for the engineering tasks but also for organizing the team efficiently.
  • Good knowledge in German and English language, others are a plus.
  • You like to work in multicultural / international environment.
