The Power Grids business offers power and automation products, systems, service and software solutions across the generation, transmission and distribution value chain. Hitachi Energy Grid Integration support customers in creating stronger, smarter and greener grids adapted to meet the needs of the changing power landscape. Our system solutions are designed and delivered to provide the highest lifecycle value with the lowest risk. We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to lead the execution of medium to large size projects ensuring that all related activities are performed in accordance with Hitachi Energy policy, contractual agreements, quality standards, health, safety & environmental requirements, financial targets, as well as schedule commitments. The successful applicant will need to have experience with the maintenance, refurbishment and installation of HVDC equipment, although further training/development will be provided for the right person.

Your responsibilities

  • Lead the execution of medium/large size and technically complex projects and ensure that all related activities are performed in accordance with Hitachi Energy policy, contractual agreements, quality standards, health, safety & environmental requirements, financial targets, as well as schedule commitments.
  • Coach and provides feedback for project staff.
  • Lead the project team, establishes the project execution approach and oversees project hand-over, execution planning, and monitoring and control activities for both internal and external resources to accomplish all project goals.
  • Define, jointly with Project Controls department (or equivalent), all project plan documents, including scope and financial plans, schedule and risk management plans.
  • Monitor and controls project financials, overseeing project invoicing status, cost, expenses, and cash flow. Identifies, qualifies, quantifies, and manages project risks, and ensures that all opportunities are identified and pursued.
  • Ensure that the project is formally closed out, as contractually agreed
  • Drive the formal acceptance of the project, contract close-out and its acknowledgement by the customer.
  • Ensure that the project consistently applies contract and claims management, in accordance with Hitachi Energy policies and contractual agreements.
  • Work with Supply Chain Management (if available), and successfully procures all required services, materials, and equipment for the project from external and internal suppliers.
  • Support Supply Chain Management in supplier negotiations, claims and project changes.
  • Act as the key contact for the customer and an escalation point for the project issues. Builds and maintains strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and effectively communicates with all stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with Group health, safety and environmental directives, and ensures instructions and regulations are implemented well within the team (including subcontractors), while monitoring and reporting progress and results. Assesses risks and safety hazards and implements actions to ensure people and equipment safety.

Your background

  • A Bachelor/Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • Project management certification is preferable
  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in related field
  • Leads teams with a focus on operational planning and process development.
  • Significant experience in electrical industry.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex projects
  • Experience working and understanding construction sites & their related protocols.
  • An intermediate level of computer literacy is required as a minimum
  • A full clean driver’s license is required as the role will require driving a company vehicle.
  • Knowledge of testing methodologies would be desirable.
