Hitachi Energy Grid Integration support customers in creating stronger, smarter and greener grids adapted to meet the needs of the changing power landscape. Our system solutions are designed and delivered to provide the highest lifecycle value with the lowest risk. Our New Zealand Grid Integration team are looking for a technical supervisor / service specialist to deliver timely, high-quality, cost effective technical/service offerings, solutions and projects for customers. We are looking for someone with a strong technical background and experience in the HV/MV industry having previously worked on substation or Power Quality equipment.
Your responsibilities
- Performs medium to high complex Service tasks like installation, commissioning, maintenance, upgrades and retrofits, repair independently, identifies technical problems and makes analysis through remote or on-site activity in different Service categories (installation and commissioning, maintenance, extensions, replacements, upgrades and retrofit, end of life service etc.).
- Allocates, drives and monitors work to projects based on order content, delivery time, competencies and workload.
- Effectively utilizes available resources through proper planning and scheduling to meet delivery targets
- Coordinates, prepares and ensures that all materials, parts and equipment are available and at the appropriate quality for Service activities.
- Builds sustainable customer relationships to ensure local client growth, satisfaction and retention together with Sales.
- Contributes to customer satisfaction by executing Service work according to customer order and expectation. Maintains a good relationship with customers.
- Identifies new sales opportunities and communicates them internally.
- Drives continuous service productivity improvement activities in the assigned Service team in collaboration with the Operational Excellence team.
- Ensures compliance with Group health, safety and environmental directives, and ensures instructions and regulations are implemented well within the team (including subcontractors), while monitoring and reporting progress and results.
- Assesses risks and safety hazards and implements actions to ensure people and equipment safety.
- Reviews competence levels to ensure each Service Engineer (including subcontractors) is appropriately qualified to handle jobs assigned to them.
- Prepares all documents and reports to be signed by the customer representative.
- Reports work done in a timely manner and follows up when needed.

Your background
- A qualification in Electrical Engineering.
- Minimum experience of 2-5 years in electrical industry.
- Previous service roles & supervision experience essential.
- Previous experience in MV/HV industry is mandatory, particularly with Transformers.
- A minimum standard of on-site service work including switchgear, circuit breaker refurbishment, transformers, installations & upgrades is preferred.
- Demonstrated leadership capability is essential.
- Experience working on & understanding sites & their related protocols.
- At least an intermediate level of computer literacy is required.
- A full clean driver’s license is required as the role will require driving a company vehicle.
- Capable of undertaking heavy work (lifting test equipment), and demonstrated experience working at heights is required.
