As Head of Embedded Software Applications, you will be part of Hitachi Energy's ("HE") Wired Communication team and reporting to the Wired Communications Global Technology Manager. You will play an instrumental role leading the Embedded Software Applications development team, thanks to your expertise & experience with advanced software development tools & practices within large, distributed, real-time, embedded applications. Moreover, you will be contributing to defining Wired Communications future products leveraging your expertise in using openly available components as well as refactoring/re-engineering skillsets with the aim of delivering state-of-the-art, real-time, mission critical solutions. Your responsibilities

  • You are an active player in defining & driving wired product offering
  • You are responsible for the definition & renovation of the Embedded Software architecture (e.g. rationalizing system partitioning, replacement of proprietary components through off-the-shelf)
  • You serve as a change agent in maturing our development program - defining and managing development strategies, user adoption and overall change management
  • You define measures to improve the team skills/know-how up-to-date in technology and innovation
  • You assess and follow cooperation partners / technologies and finds alternative paths if necessary
  • You motivate the team and keep the team spirit

Your background

  • Master degree in Computer Science / or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in development of large (multi-million LOC), distributed, real-time Embedded Systems and IT Systems
  • Established, deep expertise to use Linux and other Component-Off-The-Shelf artifacts in large, real-time, embedded products. Past open source contributions a serious advantage.
  • Proven work experience as a team leader (> 10 people) and in coaching teams across multiple sites & cultures – including change management skills
  • In-depth knowledge in agile development (preferably SAFE) and change management skillset
  • Experience with External development (outsourcing or partnerships)
  • Proven Refactoring and Reengineering knowledge
  • Excellent communication skills in English
