Hitachi Energy is the leading provider of mission critical communication products worldwide. We are looking for a highly motivated Support Engineer to join our 2nd level Technical Support engineering team for our Mission Critical Communications Office in Baden (Switzerland). Dimensions: Technical Support Engineer is the source of technical expertise in the field of telecommunications networks and applications for mission critical communications.
Your responsibilities
- You support our worldwide customers with our Linux based Network Management Systems (NMS).
- You are a source of technical expertise in the mission critical telecommunications networks and the related Network Management Systems
- You do the market introduction for new technologies and applications for mission critical communications
- You are an interface between external customers and Hitachi Energy internal bodies (Product Management, Sales, Engineering, R&D). In this role, you support the involved parties with your deep knowledge, especially NMS, packet-switched networks, and associated applications
- You provide sales support, especially during tendering stage (RFQ), to ensure the proposed solution is commercially optimized and technically valid (e.g., network topology, L2 and L3 design)
- Prepare and execute Proof of Concepts (PoC)
- Review requirements defined by Product Management and R&D to ensure proper NMS performance and successful execution of projects in mission critical communication
- During project execution, you support internal and external engineering teams with your technical expertise
- You provide technical support (L3) for internal and external customers having SLAs with us (includes 24/7 support)
Your background
- You have a backgrounding in Computer Science, IT Engineering, IP Networking, System Engineering, or Telecommunication and a minimum work experience of 3 years
- Good know-how on Linux (preferred RedHat); Virtualization; scripting (Bash, Python, etc.), and system administration
- Good understanding in the areas of IP routing, Ethernet, and Cyber Security
- Advantageous you have experience with NMS for telecom equipment of other vendors, or with the NMS of Hitachi Energy
- Advantageous you have experience in redundancy concepts for NMS (High Availability, Hot and cold standby, Active/Standby server switching)
- Passion for knowledge; ability to further grow and enhance your technical and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with conflicting priorities, take the initiative, and maintain a customer-centric focus
- Ability to work as part of a team, open-minded, collaborative approach
- Passion for problem-solving and investigation
- Good communication skills and the ability to listen to customer issues
- Languages: very good command of English; German and French are an advantage
- Team player with a high customer focus and analytic thinking
