The Hitachi Energy Indian Operations Center (INOPC) is a competence center with around 1500 skilled engineers who focus on tendering, engineering, planning, procurement, functional system testing, installation supervision and commissioning. However, over the last decade, it has evolved to become the largest engineering hub. The India Operations Centre is a key aspect of the Power Grids business Power Up transformation program. The INOPC team at Chennai supports Hitachi Energy’s units in more than 40 countries across a wide portfolio of all the four business units in Power Grid business. To date, the team has executed engineering and commissioning for projects in more than 80 countries.

Your responsibilities

  • Delivers and deploys HSE training, audit and Group-wide performance improvement programs to the Divisions and Local Business Units. Provides analysis of HSE data within area of responsibility.
  • Reports on progress on implementation of Sustainability Objectives and key performance indicators (KPI) as required. Contributes to assessing emerging trends and legislation in HSE and communicates relevant information on legal requirements within area of expertise and geography.
  • Cooperates across functions and with business partners to raise awareness and drive performance, engages with internal and external stakeholders to build commitment and credibility.
  • Contributes to driving behavioral change and continuous improvement though delivery of training and
  • competence initiatives and expert support to the Local Business Units in line with HSE plan for site operations with the Business Units. Supports the sharing of best practice and contributes to plan and executes Health, Safety and Environment related projects.
  • Develops and reports on project objectives. Manages project resources such as manpower, financials and other relevant factors.
  • Keeping track of end-to-end travel information’s and ensure safe working of commissioning engineers at site. Creates work plans and schedule for work in own area of responsibility and proactively manages this work to deliver the agreed results on time, on quality and at targeted cost.
  • Aware of hazard, risk and opportunities. Able to collect hazard and near miss reports, analyze and reports to management. Actively develops learning plan and coaches colleagues. Represents function as a member in safety collaboration forums.
  • Cultivates a network of engineering and commissioning colleagues both within and outside own business unit.
  • Takes a lead role in developing function within own business unit gathering and sharing best practices.
  • Creates standard processes and tools. Uses agreed processes and procedures collaboration tools to ensure that all activities are effectively done and achieves assigned goals.

Your background

  • Bachelor’s in Electrical / Electronic Engineering or any related discipline.
  • Minimum 7-12 years of experience in related field.
  • Knowledge on Electrical Substation.
  • Knowledge in HSE polices.
  • Knowledge in international safety standards.
  • Knowledge on Microsoft office tools.
  • Knowledge on Power BI, Microsoft Forms is added advantage.
