As a Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) Advisor, you will take on the role of Hitachi Energy Gas Specialist and join a multidisciplinary team of HSE experts covering various technical domains - from GIS, GCB, MV Surge Arresters to High Voltage Breakers and High Performance Laboratories to Manufacturing and Service. You will have a key role in developing and supporting the implementation of our Sustainability strategy 2030 through our management of SF6 and Econiq Gases. Do you have experience with the safe handling of gases and chemicals? Do you have technical education in a related field? Are you familiar with best practices for the safe handling and storage of gases? Do you have experience in advising, training and coaching line management on the safe handling of gases? Are you familiar with the interpretation of Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS)? Would you like to help us? Then this is the perfect job for you.

Your responsibilities

  • Drive gas handling improvements at all levels and provide technical support to local organizational units, including project groups, laboratories and factories
  • Measurement and record of gas inventories (deliveries, losses, shipments)
  • Define work instructions for gas handling safety at all sites using the rules, instructions, and guidelines of Swiss laws and Hitachi Energy
  • Support in the investigation of accidents related to gas handling, storage and equipment - including technical advice to assess vulnerabilities on the respective systems and equipment
  • Expert support during HSE audits and technical inspections as well as conducting related internal audits
  • Support sales and project delivery when it comes to gas (SF6, Econiq, etc) and equipment needed
  • Troubleshooting/expertise for gas on-site (processes, problems with devices, customer questions, etc.)
  • Improve the skills and knowledge of the organization through delivery of training, coaching and information campaigns
  • Reporting of gas related metrics to interested stakeholders (Hitachi Group, Swissmem, Customers, etc)
  • Could develop into the company’s representative in Industry Bodies to drive improvements across the industry
  • Potential for minor international travel to Customer sites

Your background

  • Successful technical studies in a related field - alternatively equivalent training would be considered
  • Sound experience in the handling and storage of gases
  • Well versed in the related Swiss laws
  • Knowledge of MSDS, risk assessment, measurement and calculation of gas quantities
  • Motivated to create a positive environmental impact by reduction of gas losses
  • Fluent in German and English
  • Proficient in MS Office applications (including MS Teams, Sharepoint)
