Hitachi Energy, High Voltage Products, is renowned worldwide as a specialist for power transmission and distribution. Our unit Gas Insulated Switchgears (GIS), based in Zürich-Oerlikon, is active in the development and production of gas insulated switching systems. We ensure the high reliability of our systems by using state-of-the-art development tools and methods. At our premises in Zurich Oerlikon, we are looking for a Technical Buyer with focus on operational excellence. Within this challenging role, you are responsible for procure to pay process with SCM operational excellence as a focus.

Your responsibilities

• Ensure purchasing activities aligned with corporate purchasing policies and procedures. Purchase materials and services according to required technical specifications, price, delivery schedule and terms, negotiate with main suppliers and periodically renew price lists, terms and conditions
• Provide assistance to the wider business by ensuring that all purchasing activities align with corporate policies and procedures and by providing relevant market information
• Initiate purchase orders according to the purchase requisitions and in alignment with standard procedures
• Oversee supplier performance (on-time delivery, quality, lead time) and resolve performance issues
• Align supplier orders with customer requirements in terms of content, quality, delivery, sustainability and price
• Identify and qualify new suppliers together with supplier quality and engineering specialist

Your background

• A Bachelor/Master’s degree in Engineering or a Technical degree
• 2-5 years of experience purchasing materials and services, preferably in an industrial environment
• Demonstrated experience working with enterprise resource planning and standard operating procedures
• Knowledge of SAP is a must Fluent in English, other languages are considered a plus
• A collaborative, solution-focused approach with strong written and spoken communication skills
