HVDC has a exciting opportunity to join their team as a IT/Cyber Security Engineer, You'll be reporting to the Ireland and UK HVDC Service Manager and will be site/home based but will be required to attend various customer sites throughout the UK, Ireland and overseas as required so you'll be able to experience all areas of the business. You'll be ensuring systems and networks contain defined levels of cybersecurity, participating in security assessments as a subject-matter expert and interfacing with R&D departments and customers, ensuring expectations are met and exceeded.

Your responsibilities

  • Ensure conformity to the Hitachi Energy/Customer Electrical safety Systems.
  • Designing and implementing project specific system, network and security architectures and delivering sustainable services to maintain the achieved cyber security levels.
  • Ensuring our project and service deliveries meet the defined cyber security levels
  • Introducing new cyber security-related policies, standards and practices
  • Actively contributing to identifying, managing and reducing cyber security risks
  • Anticipating and influencing current and future technologies and trends
  • Representing Hitachi Energy as a cyber security expert in customer discussions
  • Creating, maintaining and sharing a comprehensive understanding of global cyber security risks and market requirements, including regulations and standards

Your background

  • A university degree within a relevant technical area, preferably Computer Science
  • A base location within 2 hour drive of the Blackhillock converter station Moray Scotland AB55 5PA is a requirement.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer focus.
  • Experience with databases and high-availability solutions
  • Experience with scripting languages and automation technologies
  • Experience with port-, vulnerability-, and malware scanners, able to digest and communicate the output
  • Knowledge of intrusion detection systems, security information event monitoring, application control and other security-relevant systems is a major plus
  • Experience with network equipment (firewalls, switches, GPS clocks) and redundant network designs and protocols
