For our research center in Montreal, QC we are looking for a research scientist with expertise in the area of Power Systems with an interest in techno-economic analysis of future energy sys-tem solutions. In this function you will work on projects with your colleagues in North America and globally. *The position can be located in Montreal or Raleigh*

Your responsibilities

• Design and evaluate various future energy system architectures and technology choices us-ing power system engineering expertise as well as techno-economic analysis from the per-spective of different stakeholders.
• Research impact of emerging technologies, such as different energy storage options, on grid resilience, decarbonization and energy affordability.
• Identify potential business cases by quantifying the benefits of such system architectures and technologies.
• Network in the company and actively distribute your knowledge and expertise
• Collaborate with external partners including universities, startups and vendors
• Disseminate your results in scientific publications, patent applications, and technical reports

Your background

• PhD degree in the area of Electrical Engineering with specialization in Power Systems, or in a related field.
• Extensive experience in power system planning, modeling, and simulation & proficiency in one or more commonly used simulation platforms like PSS/E, PowerWorld, etc. is required.
• Knowledge in mathematical analysis of systems, optimization, dynamic programing, etc. is preferred.
• Knowledge of data visualization methods and practices, along with programming experi-ence using Python are beneficial.
• Knowledge in economics, public policy is beneficial.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills in English.
