Job Title: Senior Systems Engineer

Summary

Centuria Corporation is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer with radar experience to support the National Weather Service (NWS) Radar Operations Center located in Norman, OK

A minimum of seven years of specialized experience in providing systems engineering and supervision in the areas of system requirements analysis, structured design methods, and experience with large, complex systems’ design and implementation. 

Essential Functions

  • Work with analyze radar performance data
  • Analyze hardware performance issues with radar equipment
  • Prepare Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) for projects.
  • Research and work with radar hardware parts vendors
  • Lead team of engineers and scientists from throughout the organization on projects that replace or upgrade radar hardware components 

Competencies

  • Ability to analyze and test electronic system performance, and in producing engineering prototypes, studies, and technical documents is desired.
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and procedures is desired.
  • Experience in feasibility, cost/benefit, and alternatives analysis and documentation in the development of modifications and large-scale product improvement programs is desired.

Experience

  • 7+ years’ experience in providing systems engineering and supervision in the areas of system requirements analysis and structured design methods for large, complex systems. 
  • Experience in pulse Doppler radar, radar meteorology, RF propagation, signal processing, and communications theory and integration are highly desired.
  • Requisite experience on radar systems and equipment is desired
  • Technical writing and presentation skills
  • Experience managing projects and teams of engineers and technicians

Education

  • MS degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering is desired

Security Clearance

Must be a U.S. citizen. Must possess or be able to obtain/maintain a Public Trust security clearance.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. Occasional work occurs on a local radar test bed, with occasional travel to remote weather radar sites. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets, with the occasional handling of radar parts.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position 75% of the time.
  • Occasionally travels to radar sites in other cities or on remote mountain tops
  • Occasionally works outdoors in radar equipment shelters and climbs up to 100 ft radar towers. 
  • Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer.
  • Expresses or exchanges ideas by means of the spoken word. Those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Frequently moves standard office equipment or radar parts up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to work indoor conditions 90% of the time.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Typical days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (Central). Some telework possible, as approved. Evening and weekend hours as required by business needs, if overtime is approved.

Travel

Travel is 10% or less. Most travel is within the Continental US (CONUS), but OCONUS and overseas (Guam, Puerto Rico, Korea Japan) travel possible.
