We are looking for a research scientist with expertise in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or applied physics to work on gas circuit breaker research at our research center in Baden/CH.

Your responsibilities

• Industrial research in the area of high-voltage engineering, gas circuit breakers, electrical power devices
• Creation and research of new concepts for high-voltage AC and DC gas circuit breakers and gaseous insulation
• Design, planning, execution and evaluation of laboratory experiments
• Propose, plan, contribute or lead multidisciplinary research projects in close collaboration with Hitachi Energy business units, other research centers, external universities, and industrial partners
• Build a network in the company and actively distribute your knowledge and expertise
• Disseminate your results in scientific publications, patent applications, and technical reports

Your background

• PhD in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or applied physics
• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• Ambition for project or people management
• Experience in laboratory work and know-how in experimental techniques
• Proven track record at top scientific conferences and journal publications
• Team player attitude and creativity
• Background related to cold/thermal plasma physics and applications, high voltage technology, experimental fluid dynamics or combustion physics is an advantage
• Relevant work experience in industrial R&D or as post-doc at an academic institution is an advantage
• Fluency in English (written and spoken)
