Program:

The University of Hawaii Cancer Center (UHCC) and University of Southern California (USC) Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center (NCCC), both National Cancer Institute-designated Cancer Centers, are seeking applications for postdoctoral fellowships in Cancer Prevention in a Multiethnic Population. The training program is supported by the NIH/NCI under the T32 mechanism.

Trainees will experience the interdisciplinary nature of behavioral, environmental, genetic and epigenetics causes of cancer disparities through individually tailored educational and research experiences. Given that this postdoctoral fellowship is a bi-institutional training program (UHCC: lifestyle, diet/nutrition and biomarkers; USC: genetics/molecular epidemiology, biostatistics/bioinformatics), all postdoctoral fellows will be exposed to a wide range of innovative molecular and traditional epidemiological approaches. Given our locations, our program offers excellent opportunities for research addressing Native Hawaiians/Pacific Islanders and Asians (UHCC) as well as Latinos and African Americans (USC). Trainees are awarded a competitive salary, full benefits, and a research/educational/travel allowance.

Eligibility:

Applicants should have a recent doctoral degree (e.g., PhD, DrPH, MD/MPH) in Epidemiology, Nutrition, Biostatistics, Behavioral Sciences, Biostatistics, or related disciplines in a regionally accredited U.S. university or foreign equivalent. U.S. citizenship or permanent residency is required. A 2-year commitment is expected and acceptance is based on availability of suitable faculty mentor.

Application:

Interested applicants should apply with a cover letter, Curriculum Vitae, 2-page statement of research interests and career goals, copies of all graduate school transcripts, and the names and contact information for three references. Please send application documents and inquiries to T32MEC@cc.hawaii.edu.
