Multnomah County Circuit Court, Oregon’s 4th Judicial District, is hiring a Juvenile Court Clerk (Judicial Services Specialist 2) within the Juvenile Court Clerk’s Office. The person hired for this position will work at the Juvenile Justice Center, located at

1404 NE 68th Ave., Portland, OR 97213. This location is easily accessible by public transit, bike and pedestrian paths as well as freeway access and is close to shops and restaurants.

The 4th Judicial District is the largest in the State of Oregon. The Multnomah Circuit Court has over 320 staff, including 14 hearings referees, and 38 elected judges working in four courtroom facilities in Multnomah County.

What does a Juvenile Court Clerk do?

You will work in the Juvenile Court Clerk’s office, helping the public, attorneys, and interagency partners in navigating the juvenile court system. You will interact with these customers in person at a customer service counter, over the telephone, and via email. You will answer questions about the status of cases, court policy and procedure, and next steps following signed orders and judgments. You will be performing data entry, case calendaring and scheduling, payment processing, scanning of documents into the court’s case management system, and various other office related tasks. You will use a computer or other digital equipment to perform most of your work.

You will handle sensitive, controversial, and confidential information and will be expected to follow strict guidelines about safeguarding this information. This job requires focus and attention to detail in addition to the ability to meet mandatory deadlines.

This work unit is high-production and the workload can be heavy, at times. Your customers may be facing challenging life circumstances, high stress, and trauma.

Most importantly, you will be working for Oregon’s court system, which provides justice services to your community and helping to ensure people’s cases are heard in a timely and impartial manner.

Previous experience in a legal environment is not a requirement. We welcome all candidates who are inspired by our work and our mission. Assigned tasks may be changed to accommodate workload and organizational needs.

Who We Need...

We need someone who enjoys helping people and who likes using a computer to enter and retrieve information. We also need someone who can respond professionally to all customers. We need a person who is accurate and accountable when handling sensitive, controversial, or confidential information.

Do you like the “helping people” part of customer service? Do you like clerical tasks such as using computers to enter information, send emails, and make changes to schedules or calendars? Do you prefer a work environment where there is noise and interruption? If your answer is “yes,” please apply! Conversational fluency in a language other than English is useful in this setting, but not required of our applicants. We look forward to reading about your experience.
