We're looking for an experienced and innovative Chief Financial Officer with proven experience in a public company. The CFO is a critical member of the leadership team and will work closely with the CEO to manage all global functions. They will be responsible for financial strategy, financial planning and analysis, financial reporting, cash flow analysis, company audits, compliance and controls, treasury, banking relationships, accounting operations and disclosures.

Essential Duties

  • As a trusted partner to the CEO, actively participate in the development of strategic corporate goals while empowering the executive team and Board to make risk‐informed, data‐driven decisions.
  • Control and evaluate the organization’s corporate finance strategy and capital structure to use equity and leverage effectively to fund growth objectives. 
  • Participate in strategic decisions about the company’s operations to enable the company to consistently achieve revenue and EBITDA growth targets.
  • Review budget and expenses; making recommendations to minimize costs and increase ROI.
  • Maintain internal financial safeguards and coordinate all audit activities (including Sarbanes-Oxley) to achieve a clean audit.
  • Manage risks by analyzing the organization’s liabilities and investments for potential exposure.
  • Develop and scale the company’s financial and operational infrastructure required to meet agreed performance goals and targets within established budgets and timescales.
  • Build key relationships with banking, cash lending, and other investment partners.
  • Support the growth of the business through comprehensive due diligence and skilled financial analysis of potential acquisitions and other strategic investment opportunities in partnership with the Chief Investment Officer.
  • Partner with the Chief Operating Officer to set sustainable headcount growth targets and performance initiatives for your all-star team of finance and accounting professionals.
  • Work closely with General Counsel to strengthen the company’s position against litigation risks and ensure legal and tax compliance with existing agreements as the company grows and expands both domestically and internationally.
  • Collaborate with EVP of Asset Management to train property management and asset management teams to effectively monitor property-level P&Ls for budget compliance and revenue growth opportunities. 

Requirements

  • Driven and motivating leader with at least 15 years of relevant experience.
  • Kind, optimistic, curious, empathetic, self-aware, and most importantly, have integrity.
  • Have finance leadership experience in a public company and/or IPO preferred.
  • Have a passion for hospitality, real estate and finance.
  • Experience in asset management, investor relations, and intracompany transactions is highly valued.
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Knowledge of all aspects of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
  • Previous/current experience supporting an operating budget of $250M or more. 
  • Expertise in financial accounting, budget development and reporting to investors and regulatory bodies.
  • Demonstrated skill in building, motivating, and retaining high-performance teams.
  • Experience working with external auditors, compliance, and regulatory oversight.
  • Effective communication in both oral and written form.
  • Technologically proficient with employee time management tracking systems, Google Docs, spreadsheets, and project management software.
  • CPA is a strong advantage.
  • BSc/BA in Accounting, Finance or relevant field; MSc/MBA is a plus.

The position is a full-time, salaried role with medical, dental, vision and retirement benefits. Ideally based in San Francisco, but remote options available for the right candidate with some travel expected when appropriate.
