Silicon Photonics PDK Development Engineer
As a member of the Silicon Photonics team, the candidate will be responsible for developing device models, maintaining PDKs and automating existing workflows related to the simulation, layout and verification of photonic p-cells and Photonic Integrated Circuits (PICs) to enable Juniper’s Opto-ASIC products.
The successful candidate will work closely with a cross functional team of device and circuit designers, process, layout, and test engineers to maximize repeatability and efficiency of Juniper’s Silicon Photonic product design process.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with device design team to develop and maintain Silicon Photonics device p-cells, primarily device models that meet the needs of PIC architects.
- Package and document Juniper’s Silicon Photonics PDKs.
- Develop, document, and maintain workflows to check quality and integrity of PDKs.
- Provide timely debug, analysis, and resolutions of PDK and design flow related issues.
- Identify and drive initiatives to improve existing workflows and methodologies used for PIC design, implementation, and verification.
- Interface with external foundries, software tool vendors and partners in developing Juniper’s Silicon Photonic PDKs and workflows.
Skills & Preferred Experience:
- B.S. or M.S. Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science or related engineering discipline.
- At least 5 years of industry experience working in Synopsys Custom Compiler (strongly preferred) or cadence Virtuoso environment, creating P-cells and writing code to develop new capabilities or automate existing workflows in a production environment
- In depth understanding of methodologies and best practices for developing Analog/RF and/or photonic design kits
- Familiarity with custom Analog/RF and/or photonics design flow and related EDA tools including physical verification, custom place and route, simulation, and reliability analysis.
- Proficiency in python and TCL programming
- Proven record of demonstrating substantial increase in efficiency through coding, for example, by increasing the speed of a design step, or by reducing or eliminating the need for manual review through automation.
- Familiarity with Synopsys OptoDesigner and OptSim Circuit highly desired.
- Knowledge of optics and/or photonics theory and design highly desired.
- Familiarity with software development methodologies such as revision control, unit testing, issue tracking and continuous integration.
- Familiarity with linux desired
- Strong problem solving, communication, organizational, interpersonal, and presentation skills
