SUMMARY:

Working omni-channel, the Field Visual Merchandiser (FVM) is responsible for amplifying the exposure that our brands receive in both our retail and wholesale accounts with the objective to increase sell-through at the focus accounts. The FVM will visit a set monthly rotation of targeted in their territory and is responsible for creating and maintaining impactful sections and windows that meet brand standards and are aligned with seasonal marketing and product initiatives, and communicating relevant sales, traffic, and competition information back to visual merchandising, sales and marketing leadership. The FVM is also responsible for developing strong working relationships with accounts and local reps, training shop employees on seasonal brand initiatives, and helping to coordinate and execute local brand activations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

In-store activities

  • Oversee a territory of 20-30 from San Diego doors from various channels, with efforts distributed across Roxy, Quiksilver and DC brands.
  • Responsible for executing monthly visual merchandising visits to vertical retail locations and wholesale accounts to ensure in-store brand presentations are up to standards, product focus is aligned with seasonal needs and current marketing initiatives.
  • Providing post visit recaps and photos highlighting their work and summarizing product and sales info, stock levels, traffic and competition info, etc. to sales, marketing and vm leadership.
  • Educate retail employees about merchandising standards, products, selling skills, and other initiatives set by the Director of Visual Merchandising. 
  • Create unique training opportunities for shop employees such as clinics and product demos.
  • Support key store events, ensuring store staff is properly trained and prepared for activations.
  • Support trade marketing by reporting issues to Trade Marketing Manager, help by solving in-field problems.
  • Assist with seasonal floor sets, window fronts, and other merchandising needs as requested by Sales Reps.
  • Assisting customers who are shopping our sections during merchandising visits.
  • Assist at setup of store openings, remodels, or new section installs.

Marketplace­ activities

  • Attend seasonal sales meetings at Headquarters, budget and timing permitting.
  • Support and amplify sales and marketing activations; assist in creating and driving new experiences for consumers such as clinics, window and store installations, product launch parties, and other events.
  • Attend regional trade shows and sales meetings as requested by visual merchandising leadership.
  • Monitor competitor performance in local area and communicate observations to leaders and stores.

Administrative duties

  • Create quality event and visit recaps that to provide shop intelligence, competitive analysis, and product feedback to leadership.
  • Manage and communicate monthly visitation calendar to relevant parties.
  • Assist with creating visual merchandising guidelines and merchandising directives as requested by sales or vm leadership.
  • Manage own travel arrangements and travel/monthly expenses.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/EDUCATION:

  • At least 3 years of visual merchandising and store operations experience.
  • Strong merchandising and/or design related skills and a strong understanding of fashion/trends in market(s).
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Business-related, Apparel Merchandising, and/or Apparel Design field.
  • In lieu of a degree, at least five years of experience in any of the above would be considered.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint. Knowledge of Adobe creative suite is a plus.
  • Demonstrates strong relationship building and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to remain self-motivated and work effectively in a low supervised setting.
  • Ability to demonstrate expertise in field marketing through a portfolio of work or strong references.
  • Must own reliable transportation and have a valid Driver License and auto insurance.
  • Required to travel throughout local market at least 70% of the time.
  • Requires flexible hours based on the needs of the business.
  • Must be willing and able to move ladders, fixtures, etc.; must be willing and able to climb and stand atop a ladder.
  • Must be able to lift 30-50 pounds.
