Directly responsible for cleaning, sanitizing or disinfecting all designated interior and exterior spaces according to set standards and procedures.

2. Purpose - Communicate technical material or create a flow of information between Physical Plant departments and communicate status of work to the University community. Adhere to departmental rules, policies and regulations. Adhere to attendance guidelines. Promote a professional image through quality philosophies.
ENVIRONMENTAL DEMANDS:
1. Work Environment -
A. Wear gloves when cleaning restrooms.
B. Wear gloves when using cleaning chemicals.
C. Follow all safety precautions for chemical and equipment use.
D. Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment for all tasks.
1. High school diploma or equivalent.
2. A final candidate must complete a post-offer pre-employment physical exam. Employment is contingent on the successful result of the pre-employment physical.
1. Ability to comprehend written and oral instructions necessary for learning cleaning procedures or any other function related to the job.
2. Ability to learn how to clean, sanitize and disinfect all designated interior and exterior spaces according to set standards and procedures.
3. Ability to learn how to perform general/detail cleaning and re-lamping within all designated space types according to set standards established for each space type.
4. Ability to learn how to operate equipment according to manufacturer's specification, in accordance with on the job training.
5. Ability to learn how to use cleaning chemicals according to manufacturer's specification, on the job training, following safety precautions.
6. Ability to learn and follow the cleaning procedures per space type as listed within the Building Service Worker training manual in order to provide consistent cleaning campus.
7. Ability to learn how to work in a safe manner in accordance with applicable local, state, federal and university safety and health recommendations and regulations.
Varied depending on shift availability; must be flexible to work days, evenings, overnights, and weekends.
Must be able to complete the following with or without a reasonable accommodation:
1. Ability to walk and stand for 6-8 hours per day.
2. Ability to lift 35 lbs.
3. Ability to push/pull up to 80 lbs.
4. Ability to bend, stoop, twist; ability to climb ladders and stairs; ability to work above shoulder level for extended periods of time; ability to work around dust, fumes, and environmental irritants.

The incumbent will remain at the Building Service Worker Intern status for at least the first six months of employment. Upon successful completion of the Intern program, the employee will be recommended by the hiring department to move to a Building Service Worker and serve a six month probationary period and receive the Building Service Worker rate.
