BASIC FUNCTIONS:

  • This position serves as a subject matter expert for a specific team of Software Engineers.
  • In addition to writing code on complex systems and applications, this position provides direction on project plans, schedules, and methodologies.
  • The position has direct reports (mostly in RDU and others remote).

What you will be doing:

  • Lead a team that builds and scales application and API infrastructure that is powered by big data processed through our data ingestion and machine learning pipelines.
  • Provide visibility into the health of our App and API platform and manage the CI/CD pipelines for our assets and optimize cloud costs.
  • Automate and handle the life cycle of the systems and platforms that process our data.
  • Provide technical leadership and develop roadmap for the App and API infrastructure.
  • Understand and implement microservices, APIs and Context powered apps to process and explore data and generate visualizations.
  • Analyze budgets and provide plans for resourcing.
  • Manage security compliance for our AWS assets.

Basic qualifications

  • 7+ years of Software Engineering experience
  • BS Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience required

What are we looking for?

  • Passionate for big data and developing application that use microservices to consume data.
  • Advanced knowledge of Agile software development methodology 
  • Extensive experience with UI technologies like Angular, NodeJS, and other JavaScript framework
  • Extensive experience with server-side technologies like .NET, Java and Scala
  • Experience with CI/CD processes and configuration as code.
  • Excellent people manager with strong skills in setting, communicating, implementing, and achieving business objectives and goals through the direct management of others. 
  • Strong problem-solving experience involving leading teams in identifying, researching, and coordinating the resources necessary to effectively troubleshoot/diagnose complex project issues; prior success extracting/translating findings into alternatives/solutions; and identifying risks/impacts and schedule adjustments to facilitate management decision-making. 
  • Strong communication (verbal and written) and customer service skills. Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills applicable to a wide audience including senior and executive management, customers, etc., including diction/terminology and presenting information in a concise and effective manner to clients, management, and various departments using assorted communication mediums. 
  • Familiarity with Cloud services especially AWS.
  • Understanding of reporting dashboards like Looker and Splunk for logging.
