As the Business Development Manager, you will be responsible for the overall Optus sales target allocated you carry as part of the Optus Business Annual Plan.

Reporting to the State Sales Manager, as a Business Development Manager you will need to be highly motivated, upbeat with a can-do attitude to exceed business targets and implement strategies to grow market share in the 20-300 FTE market segment. The role will include three core functions.

  • Generating and Maintaining a Pipeline of Customer opportunities
  • Selling Optus Mobile Optus Fixed Voice and Optus Fixed Data products & services
  • Administration of the sale through to product delivery

A consistent track record of success in sales, face-to-face relationship selling, and prospecting new customer opportunities is vital and success in this role and will be evident through the achievement of business targets.

The BDM must have the ability to effectively differentiate from our competitors in the experience that Optus can provide customers and to engage with Senior Executives across a range of SMB (Small to medium size business) organizations

This exciting role will provide you with exposure across the business – In addition to winning new customers to Optus, the BDM will also action new cross sell opportunities allocated to them from within the customer base.

Responsibilities:

  • Growth in the understanding of new products and services.
  • Gain a high -level understanding of key trends within various industry verticals.
  • Management of pipeline of opportunities existing and new leads
  • Qualify out prospect opportunities that are unlikely to change their services to Optus
  • Influence prospect organisations to switch their services to Optus
  • Maintain close customer contact throughout the delivery phase of a product to ensure a positive customer experience
  • Effective handover of accounts with Account Management team
  • Engage with Decision makers within prospect organisations including the use of Digital and telephone-based canvassing
  • In conjunction with Sales Manager, you will implement retention and Cross Sell strategies
  • Understanding of global and national trends and issues affecting the mobile, fixed, and digital sector

Experience:

  • 5 -10 years of Senior Business Development and/or Account Management experience
  • Sound understanding of what drives the business commercially
  • The generation of new business and the growth of existing accounts or industry segments
  • Experience in operating in both relationship and transactional sales and marketing environment
  • Sound commercial and eye for business with experience in positioning value propositions to customers
  • Confirmed sales track record in achieving growth through acquisition strategies and sales teams and customer loyalty through strong relationships
  • Strong presentation and communication skills - written & verbal to internal and external senior executives
  • Understanding of mobile, fixed line and data solutions within the SMB market – desirable.
  • Extensive new business / strategic sales experience within the Telecommunications and/or IT sectors highly regarded but all industry experience is desirable.
  • Knowledge skills & Management of internal relationships (desirable)
  • Strong product and industry knowledge would be an advantage
  • Salesforce and MS office programs / Full Salesforce training provided
