The Opportunity

QVC’s Footwear Merchandising department has an exciting opportunity for a talented Buyer I to join the On Air Footwear team overseeing key footwear brands like Koolaburra by Ugg, Spenco, Dr. Scholls, and more. The Buyer I position is a developmental role intended to prepare for a Buyer II position. The primary responsibility of the Buyer I is to develop, negotiate and execute new products, concepts, shows, and ideas while maximizing multi-platform opportunities that will resonate with customers. The Buyer I will have ownership of a portion of the Buying Office’s business and take accountability for long term and short term strategic and financial planning, purchasing and managing sales objectives. Select products based on relevant trends and understand how to translate them into products/concept for multi-platform retail. Educate and communicate with vendors and cross-functional departments.

Your Impact

Under the supervision of the Buyer II, the Buyer I is responsible for maintaining the assortment for assigned merchandise categories and executing multi-platform strategies.

  • Develop and execute multi-platform short and mid-range buying plans that meet or exceed the financial goals.
  • Drive innovation. Develop an entrepreneurial and creative approach to developing new, innovative ideas that will deliver results. Accelerate product discovery. Lean into emerging categories and product adjacencies.
  • Work with cross functional partners in the development and execution of brand, product and digital strategies and react to short term business results.
  • Build business and leadership skills. Engage in own growth and development through learning plans and feedback.
  • Develop talent, delegate effectively, celebrate diversity within the team and manage performance.
  • Manage vendor relationships. Effectively conduct vendor negotiations that best supports business objectives.

What You Bring

  • 2-5 years of corporate merchandise buying experience.
  • Leads by examples living both Principles and World Class Merch Differentiators.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently requiring limited supervision and exercise proper judgment.
  • Excellent oral, written and telephonic communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Ability to interface well with cross-functional teammates at all levels.
  • Ability to make decisions to achieve desired results.
  • Ability to analyze data and draw relevant conclusions to have positive effects on business.
  • Superior negotiation and persuasion skills.
  • Ability to access information using automated systems (e.g., windows based computer).
  • Demonstrated presentation skills that demonstrate confidence in subject.
