JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Department of Biobehavioral Health (BBH) in the College of Health and Human Development (HHD) invites applications for a full-time (48 week), non-tenure track Assistant Teaching Professor position for its online undergraduate degree program offered through Penn State’s World Campus.

The Pennsylvania State University is committed to and accountable for advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion in all of its forms. We embrace individual uniqueness, foster a culture of inclusion that supports both broad and specific diversity initiatives, leverage the educational and institutional benefits of diversity, and engage all individuals to help them thrive. We value inclusion as a core strength and an essential element of our public service mission. In HHD, enriching the lives of others is our mission. We believe in the power of human capacity for growth and live that mission by meeting challenges, both big and small, with excitement and energy every day. We invite you to come grow with us.

The individual who fills this role will instruct up to nine sections of online BBH course offerings per year (up to 3 courses per semester in fall, spring, and summer). Instruction will primarily be online; however, some in-resident instruction may be involved based upon departmental need, therefore it is expected that the individual hired for this position will be able to work primarily from the University Park campus.

Additionally, depending upon the teaching load, the person hired for this position will engage in program development and service, including (but not limited to): development of courses, online course maintenance and revision, participating in and/or leading initiatives to build community and engagement among students, and collaborating with a broad range of BBH faculty and staff on departmental service tasks.

The desired candidate will hold a Doctor of Philosophy in a field germane to Biobehavioral Health with training and instructional experience in biological sciences, genetics, pharmacology, and/or neuroscience. Experience with online instruction is viewed favorably.

Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. An attractive benefits package is available.

To be considered for this position, applications must be submitted electronically and should include: a cover letter describing interests and qualifications, curriculum vitae, and the names and contact information of three professional references.

Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until a suitable candidate is identified.

This is a fixed-term appointment funded for one year from the date of hire with a possibility of re-funding.

CAMPUS SECURITY CRIME STATISTICS:

Pursuant to the Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act and the Pennsylvania Act of 1988, Penn State publishes a combined Annual Security and Annual Fire Safety Report (ASR). The ASR includes crime statistics and institutional policies concerning campus security, such as those concerning alcohol and drug use, crime prevention, the reporting of crimes, sexual assault, and other matters. The ASR is available for review here.

Employment with the University will require successful completion of background check(s) in accordance with University policies.
