The Opportunity

The Qurate Retail Group, has an amazing opportunity for a Principal Azure Data Platforms Engineer who will lead the design, migration, and management of our data solutions in Azure. You will be seen by Tech colleagues as the technical expert in all phases of design, implementation, and administration of all Cloud data storage platforms and associated tools.

Your Impact

In this role you will be a highly advanced technology expert in Azure data solutions

You will directly impact tech teams by utilizing your Azure data experience in the following technologies:

• Azure Cloud
• Defining use cases and decision trees for when to choose which data storage option in Azure
• Data migrations from on-prem to Azure
• Azure SQL Data Warehouse (Synapse)

What You Will Do

• Provide hands-on and architectural expertise in Azure data storage solutions. This includes IaaS, PaaS, and hybrid options for OLTP and OLAP databases and data warehouses, as well as NoSQL storage and caching solutions.
• Provide hands-on and architectural expertise in Azure data migrations from on-prem.
• Provide hands-on and architectural expertise in support of the ongoing Data Warehouse migrations to Azure
• Research, evaluate, and demo new Azure data services as they become available; understand use cases; add to supported platforms and guardrails where applicable. 
• Provide ongoing support and maintenance of all Azure data platform environments
• Train/mentor team members on Azure data platforms, including leading workshops, training sessions, authoring documentation, presentations, and diagrams
• Constantly learn and stay current on all new data storage options in Azure and evaluating their potential use cases within our environments. Understand application requirements and future use cases to stay ahead of the needs.
• Engage, liaise, and work with third party resources, such as Microsoft or other consultants, for assistance and guidance when necessary. Manage external resources who may be engaged to help perform the work

What You Bring

• BS in Computer Science or related fields, or equivalent experience

As the Principal Azure Data Platforms Engineer, you must also have the following skills/experience:

• 10+ years senior-level SQL Server database / SQL data warehouse administration
• 2+ years experience with Azure database solutions, inclusive of SQL on IAAS, SQL Managed Instance, and Azure SQL Database). Thorough understanding and application of concepts like hyperscale, serverless, elastic pools
• 2+ year Experience working with Azure Data Warehouse (Synapse) Services, including design, configuration, and support of services like Azure Synapse Analytics, Data Lake, Data Factory, Data Bricks, and Delta Lake
