The Business Intelligence Engineer (BIE) will support the execution of Centralized Analytics’ strategic plan by developing and maintaining reporting that accurately describes the performance of the business, with scope covering data and reporting related to Merchandising, Marketing, Site Experience, Fulfillment, and all aspects of the company’s operations. This role will build and maintain reporting platforms and solutions through a variety of technologies and applications—most notably SQL, Excel (VBA), Tableau, Looker, Python and/or R. This role requires someone who enjoys solving puzzles and complex problems. The BIE will help organize our data, define our metrics, create visualizations, and guide others in how to access the data for their business needs.

The Business Intelligence Engineer will be integral in the design and execution of our reporting system architecture. This is a great opportunity for a diligent, hard-working, go-getter that is passionate about data and analytics.

Essential Job Functions

  • Build scalable data solutions; data sets, views, queries, reports, dashboards, and scheduled processes.
  • Troubleshoot code, research root causes, document solutions, and communicate to all stakeholders. 
  • Track reporting and production anomalies.
  • Ensure data is within required quality standards.
  • Keeps stakeholders informed about problems and resolutions. Deliver products on schedule and communicate updates regularly.
  • Identify, track, and resolve data issues, working in partnership with other Business Intelligence Engineers to ensure data is accurate, complete, delivered on-time and supports the needs of the business.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Library Science, or equivalent quantitative field and/or comparable work experience.
  • 1- 2 years relevant experience in analytics, data engineering, business intelligence or related field.
  • Understanding and comfort using/learning multiple analytical tools.
  • Knowledge of object-oriented and data management languages (e.g. python, R, Java, Scala, etc.)
  • Experience in creating interactive dashboards with actions, parameter controls, and filters (Tableau, PowerBI, Data Studio, Looker, etc.) required
  • Experience in analytics and reporting lifecycle.
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment.
  • 1- 2 years relevant experience in SQL.
  • Knowledge of data architecture and processes, from ETL to reporting.
  • Basic knowledge of with basic statistical methods (e.g. regressions, t-tests).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s or advanced technical degree.
  • Passionate about data and systems.
  • Automates manual processes whenever possible.
  • Experience working with large-scale data sets in a cloud-based data environment.
  • Familiarity with machine learning applications and technologies.
