The team is seeking to deliver year on year cost reduction and value creation to support operating margin improvement and competitive advantage. This is achieved through executing breakthrough category strategies, aggregation of spend, category knowledge and productivity efficiencies.

Scope of the team is Europe region: GB, Ireland, Northern Europe, Southern Europe, Eastern Europe across Marketing A&P incl. POS, VAP & Gifting, Marketing Logistics, Experiential Marketing and Route-to-Consumer.

About the Role

This role will be part of the Customer Marketing Category team, working directly with other Category Specialists and Category Managers (reporting into the European Category Manager for Customer Marketing & Sales). The role has the responsibility to deliver the financial and non-financial targets by executing/developing the Global category strategies for the Customer Procurement categories.

Core deliverables of this role:

  • Deliver the category programme(s) in POS, VAP and Marketing Logistics Procurement categories through great execution and serve as subject-matter expert for the specific spend categories, ensuring collection and leveraging of supply market expertise and close engagement with stakeholders for value-adding procurement.
  • Deploy European/Global category strategies, build implementation pipeline for benefits opportunities including spend, contract and process analysis.
  • Deliver excellence benefits through sourcing, demand management, supplier relationship management, contract management, supplier development and supplier innovation.
  • Drive value through ensuring the commercial elements of spend within the specific spend categories are executed brilliantly with our suppliers / agency partners.
  • Act as key interface with stakeholders ensuring full engagement to maximize commercial advantage, understand business requirements and value drivers in controlled but also in new areas of spend and minimize risk while assuring quality of delivery and performance.
  • Support optimization of end-to-end process of managing POS physical assets to maximize the value of Marketing investment. Deploy demand management techniques to minimize wastage and pursue best in class spend practices.
  • Lead local market sourcing and supplier relationship management activity across the specific spend categories using best in class process and ways of working.
  • Lead and implement ongoing supplier performance through the setting of rigorous performance KPI’s and SLA’s and through the application of a robust supplier review mechanism.
  • Work closely with the Europe Category Manager and Global Procurement to support best practice models for sourcing, cost models, Supplier Relationship Management / Supplier Performance Management (SRM / SPM), benchmarking and e-sourcing.
  • Support Global and Local Procurement Category teams with relevant market, insights, input and builds for category strategies and SRM.
  • Support Procurement Productivity agenda and be an active part of driving the Improve agenda in category projects, but also across categories in Europe Procurement.
  • Support the Category Manager with the monthly Europe BPM as part of working in a KPI-led performance management structure with tiered reporting.
  • Promote the highest standards of ethics and compliance including adherence to core processes and standards consistently.

About You

We are looking for a dynamic individual with the ability to thrive in an agile and fast-paced environment, prioritising according to business needs. You’ll be a strong influencer and have demonstrable analytical skills and financial awareness, including forensic understanding of AOP requirements and the cost drivers to target and influence costs through end-to-end value.

The successful candidate will have Procurement, Supply/Logistics, Marketing, Commercial or Finance experience in an FMCG environment or other relevant role, with subject-matter expertise in supply markets and spend categories relevant to the role. Proven experience in key Procurement skills including negotiations, business partnering, forecasting and benchmarking.

An understanding of Customer Marketing and POS / Marketing Logistics is desirable for this.
