About You

Korea is a key market in APAC and Korean tax structure is challenging and the incumbent should have deep understanding of the tax law (liquor tax and customs) and practices. Further this role supports the local treasury activities working closely with Korea FD.

Function

The Tax and Treasury Manager works closely with the local Finance team/Tax advisors to complete all statutory reporting and other compliances such as tax filing, TP documentation etc.

She/He establishes and maintains relationship with Tax Authorities dealing with tax queries or audits in a professional manner. This role would be responsible for tax strategies to identify and manage tax risks and ensure transactions are fully compliant with local tax laws.

Also, should manage the Global tax reporting such as Risk trackers, UTP Memos, PYA process, CARM controls for tax as applicable for Korea business

About the Role

As the Tax and Treasury Manager, you would

  • Implement the organization's tax strategy to optimize the amount of tax the company pays and ensure it complies with all relevant local and international tax laws and regulations
  • Direct a variety of tax-related activities in accordance with the overall tax strategy to ensure that the organization meets its tax obligations and objectives
  • Manage activities of tax planning, research, compliance, tax submission, reporting and filings and communicating external tax agencies
  • Ensure that all tax returns, tax declarations and other required reports are submitted accurately and on time
  • Advise senior management on tax matters and on the potential impact of current and future laws and regulations on the operation of the organization
  • Manage ongoing relationship with, external consultants and advisors to ensure the organization receives satisfactory standards of service
  • Understand global tax strategy/initiatives and philosophy behind, lead and execute global/regional projects and collaboration that moves Diageo Korea towards our global goals
  • Lead and develop a team of tax professionals to ensure that the organization's tax strategy is implemented accurately and consistently and in compliance with all relevant regulations, laws and standards
  • Manage O&R, Cash Tax Forecast, Tax Calendar and Various Group Tax Reporting
  • Establishment of a good and honest working relationship with Tax Authorities
  • Manage the tax, treasury, and TP efficiencies of the Diageo Korea Business

Experience required/Skills/Capabilities/Languages

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in accounting or tax; CPA preferred
  • Minimum 10 yrs of total work experience including minimum 6~7 years experience in tax accounting
  • A background with Big 4 Tax department would be a plus
  • Effective project management and implementation skills
  • Good negotiation skill with tax authorities
  • Excellent communication skills in English.-
  • Past experiences include finance systems management including integrated transaction and reporting system, risks management, general and strong accounting
  • Lead/ Support Tax Audit (NTS/Customs) experience
