Job Description :

The Materials Planning Specialist is an integral part of the planning team, responsible for ensuring availability of the right materials at the right time, in the right quantity. This position will manage bulk liquid and ingredient components for a new bottling and canning facility and possibly other 3rd party operations. This position requires deep cross functional integration with the manufacturing operations; optimizing inventory control processes; including cycle counting, supplier returns, annual stocktake, etc. By leveraging Materials Requirements Planning (MRP) tools in SAP, the successful candidate balances cash, service, and risk continuously. Key stakeholders include scheduling, supply planning, bottling and blending operations, warehouse, procurement and all suppliers. Excellent organizational skills, ability to balance short term priorities and exceptional information analysis skills are a necessity. The Materials Planning Specialist will be located at the Plainfield, IL Plant and report to the Bulk Liquid and Ingredients Planning Manager, located in Plainfield, IL.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Set-up, optimize and maintain key MRP master data parameters for 50+ components, including lead times, safety stock, minimum order quantities, scrap rates and more.
  • Analyze and adjust the Materials Requirements Plan to firm orders with suppliers.
  • Actively coordinate with the site scheduler to ensure the materials plan and the production plan are in balance.
  • Partner with procurement team to monitor supplier performance (Material Availability/OTIF).
  • Participate in suppler business performance reviews.
  • Develop and maintain close relationships with suppliers, operations, procurement, quality and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain and report a set of KPIs that demonstrate efficient and effective management of resources.
  • Manage material phase outs, minimizing material obsolescence waste.
  • Support new project initiatives as part of a cross-functional team to meet new product launch dates while optimizing inventory.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Key Capabilities

  • Associate degree is required; Bachelor’s degree in supply chain or related discipline is preferred or 2-5 years of material planning experience
  • SAP or similar ERP software experience required.
  • Strong analytical skills required.
  • APICS CPIM certification desirable.
  • Must be highly skilled in MS Excel and other analytical/planning applications.
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Seeks innovative solutions for the supply chain through a deep understanding of how the business operates. Champions new ideas and is not afraid to fail.
  • Excellent communication skills at all levels.
