  • Serves as the lead functional analyst in support of corporate business systems, primarily Financials systems.
  • Participates in and coordinates the design, testing, implementation, and evaluation of automated and manual financial accounting systems;
  • Responsibility for coordinating the design, modification, and implementation of a full range of financial business processes, including large/complex systems.
  • The Financial Systems Analyst integrates the knowledge of systems analysis and design methods, computer application systems and development procedures, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), and Generally Accepted Auditing Standards (GAAS) to develop, modify, and implement financial systems.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with business users to assess business needs and translate those needs into effective technical solutions that align with project initiatives. 
  • Provide functional support to the Accounting/Finance team, lead the analysis and business case development for interfaces, enhancements and process changes, and drive the testing and acceptance of the changes. 
  • Provides functional expertise and leadership in the design, testing and debugging of new requirements/enhancements to existing modules/integrations. 
  • Participate in Workday major releases, identifying impact / enhancement opportunities associated with a new release features/functionality. 
  • Monitor recurring (daily, weekly or monthly) interfaces/processes, internal and external, to ensure successful execution and troubleshoot any failed processes 
  • Evaluates manual and automated financial accounting work processes, systems, and procedures for efficiency of workflow and conformance to principles of government accounting. 
  • Investigate and resolve system-related issues and support the business with escalating issues to the appropriate vendor or internal system owner. 
  • Participate in the review, testing and implementation of systems patches. 
  • Participate in weekly meetings with business and/or project teams to discuss projects, progress and issues to be resolved. 
  • Assigns and reviews the work of accounting and systems analysis and programming staff in developing or modifying systems.
  • Evaluates internal controls and security of new and existing automated accounting applications to ensure adherence to auditing standards.
  • Assists departmental and Auditor-Controller staff in the ongoing maintenance of accounting information systems.
  • Prepares specifications and documentation, such as user manuals and systems/code documentation, for new and revised computerized accounting systems.
  • Support SOX compliance efforts.

Qualifications

  • 2 years of professional experience of financial system administration.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, business administration, computer science, or a related field.
  • Experience in successfully working in multiple organizational structures and matrix environment 
  • Experience to lead and influence stakeholders and work collaboratively.
