Job Title: Marketing Communications Writer II

Location: Coralville, Iowa - Mobile (On-Site/Work from Home Hybrid)*

  • Mobile associates must live in an area that does not exceed a 100-mile (150 km) radius of an IDT location. *May require on-site occasional presence for team meetings, etc.*

Purpose Statement:

The Marketing Communications Writer II creates persuasive content across multiple platforms that engages on an accessible and colloquial level with our audience, while maintaining IDT’s standard for credible and accurate information on its products, applications, and the industry generally. This role will blend a strong life sciences background with creative facility of language to establish a relatable voice for IDT’s expanding industry presence. Working with a high level of independence, as well as collaborating effectively with diverse groups in our organization, the Marketing Communications Writer II will creatively combine SEO research with compelling copy to facilitate the generation of customer confidence over a wide range of marketing channels.

Essential Functions:

  • Write persuasive and engaging short form content for emails, PPC ads, print, and web
  • Write search-optimized descriptions and other metadata
  • Research current SEO best practices, and ensure other writers are aware
  • Access backend elements of the website CMS to add/modify content metadata
  • Create Google Analytics reports relating to content efforts
  • Use SEO research tools to inform content creation
  • With SEO personnel, facilitate the creation of a semantic system to inform A/B testing
  • Keep clear and informative records of A/B testing results
  • Work closely with all groups across the department
  • Coach other writers
  • Proofread other writers’ work
  • Maintain awareness of, and make thoughtful contributions to various Marketing department projects

Education:

  • Bachelor of Science degree or relevant industry experience required.

Professional Experience:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, and Adobe Acrobat required.
  • Prior experience of developing content within a corporate or agency marketing environment preferred.
  • Prior experience with HTML markup and content management systems preferred.
  • Prior experience in digital marketing preferred.
  • Familiarity with basic SEO concepts required.
  • Familiarity with A/B testing preferred.
  • Strong command of English required. Knowledge of Controlled English preferred.

Physical Requirements:

  • Exert up to 10 lbs. of force occasionally and/or up to a minimal amount frequently

Visual Acuity:

  • Ability to read pertinent printed material and distinguish colors.
  • Ability to prepare and read written documentation; use of computer.
