Analyst, Global Loan Syndication

An exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced, dynamic team within Loan Capital Markets. The Analyst will provide a broad range support to a team responsible for origination, structuring underwriting, and distributing syndicated loans to Scotiabank corporate clients across the US. The Analyst will be involved with a variety of projects to expose him/her to various aspects of loan distribution, loan underwriting, credit analysis and portfolio management. The analyst will work with a number of senior individuals internally to support a wide range of clients across industries. The Analyst will develop his/her skills through on the job training, mentoring and formal classroom training sessions.

In this role, you will:

  • Play a key role in the preparation of client proposals and pitch documents by preparing bank market update slides, market pricing comps and syndication strategy slides amongst others as assigned on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Assist in preparing extensive presentations including underwriting documents and company information documents for marketing purposes.
  • Responsible for both quantitative and qualitative data analysis and industry research.
  • Maintaining group’s databases of transactions and syndication deal sites on a current basis
  • Assist in the preparation of various management reports including league table reviews, client and prospective client tracking, market share and other ad hoc portfolio management reports.
  • Support and monitor outcomes of various internal committees (deals and underwriting committees, quarterly portfolio reviews).
  • Assist on business development calls and on coordination of global investors calls as required.
  • Working collegially and effectively with Lending, Risk and Investment Banking partners to ensure a seamless financing solution is delivered to the client.
  • Develop expertise on the US bank market conditions and acquisition/event-driven financings, with the ability to integrate knowledge and effectively communicate with peers and colleagues.
  • Contribute fresh perspectives to the team.

  • Undergraduate degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, Business, Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering and/or related majors
  • The ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining a high standard of work
  • A high level of attention to detail.
  • The ability to perform effectively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work hard, including extended hours.
  • Demonstrated interest in Banking and Markets through internships and coursework
  • Strong Excel and Powerpoint skills are necessary for the successful applicant.
