Purpose Of the Job
We are looking for a full stack developer to help build a cohesive, future forward bank that leverages enterprise technology assets and best practices surrounding the use of modern software development, comfortable working with both systems development and technical production support. Clear, professional communication with peers and supporting team representatives is an important part of this job. The incumbent will strive to become an application and business expert with strong leadership and facilitation skills with the ability to work well with others.
- Primarily focused on support, problem solving and challenging yourself and the team to build robust security capabilities for the global bank.
- Ensuring products are well maintained by identifying and eliminating technical debt.
- Ability to showcase progress in projects/initiatives/programs, holding people accountable to their commitments and making sure we are on track for successful delivery.
- Participating in planning and review sessions.
- Partner with multiple teams across the bank to collaborate on strategy and direction.
The Programmer will design and develop from simple to medium complex components as part of the development team. The incumbent will create shippable code early, and often, based on the priorities for any given iteration, end user needs and feedback. The Programmer will contribute to the stability of the application by assisting with health checks, supporting non-functional or infrastructure changes, application monitoring and resolving problems or incidents related to the application.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 5 years of hands on experience with JavaEE, Java, Shell Scripting, CORBA, XML, JavaScript, Angular JS, JSON, HTML, Websphere Portal Factory, Web Methods AIX, Korn Shell scripting and Oracle PL/SQL
- Minimum 3 years hands-on experience in the full life cycle of mid-tier batch systems development
- Strong Knowledge of JPA, JQuery, Webservice
- Strong Knowledge in Unix scripting, Unix, Oracle Database Server, DB2, Oracle 12G, PL-SQL, SQL* Loader, Oracle Toad, Pro*C, Oracle Applications,
- Solid Knowledge of Visual Basic For Applications (VBA), File Transfer Protocol (FTP), DOS, HP-UX, iOS Linux Oracle Linux, Oracle 9i, Oracle DB/RDB, ACR, CA Scheduler (Job Manager, CA-7, AutoSys, Unicenter, Secure SFTP SSH
- Solid knowledge of web application development and web application security.
- Solid working experience with Windows/Unix operation systems.
- Tools & Utilities: Eclipse, Putty, SQL Developer
- CVS Tools: IBM Clear Case, Buildforge
- Good understanding of monitoring applications such as Dynatrace, Splunk, Foglight
- Understanding of Devops, development lifecycle and Agile Principles
- Excellent oral and written skills
- Experience in collaborating with other teams and stakeholders to enable new capabilities.
- Must be highly self-motivated with a drive to deliver and exceed expectations
- Champions a customer focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage broader Bank relationships, systems and knowledge.
- Interface with technical, operational and business client areas to resolve application, security and network/communication issues.
- This role requires after hour support so important to be able to carry pager and other means to provide after-hours application support as required including statutory holidays.
- Documentation of technical proposals, estimates, system, test and implementation plans, processes and procedures.
- Ability to multi task projects and support activities, managing shifting priorities on a daily basis.
- Ability to lead tasks from start to finish, following through to ensure successful completion.
- Must be reliable, pro-active, results-oriented and attentive to details.
- Understand how the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture should be considered in day-to-day activities and decisions.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his/her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML/ATF/sanctions and conduct risk.
