Under the general supervision of the IT Supervisor II, and in the domain of Client Services, the incumbent will serve as a key member of the Information Technology Services Division, Client Solutions Section. Heavily interacting with end users, the Client Solutions section is responsible for the first line support for the Commission's computing hardware, software, printers, network and system related issues. The ITA aids clients requiring high technical expertise on a broad range of hardware/software on all PUC assigned equipment. This position will have an emphasis on audio visual and conferencing support and solutions.

Special Requirements

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be submitted with your application. A SOQ is a narrative description of how your training, experience, and education qualifies you for the position. The SOQ must be 12-point Arial font, single-spaced, and no more than two pages. Writing that exceeds this page limit will not be scored. 

The SOQ should provide specific details and examples that clearly demonstrate your qualifications. SOQs will be evaluated based on the content and writing ability, using standardized rating criteria. Competitive applicants will be invited to attend an interview. Applicants who do not submit a completed SOQ will not be considered. 

All information in the Statement is subject to verification. 

Please write your SOQ to address the following three questions:

  1. Describe your experience providing desktop and customer support. Please include your job duties and areas of responsibility.
  2. Describe a team or collaborative IT project you were involved with, what was your role, what were the lessons learned, what was the outcome of that IT project?
  3. Describe your technical experience coordinating audio-visual conferencing and presentation needs.

Required and Desirable Experience/Qualifications

Required Experience/Qualifications:

  • Ability to provide IT support using remote technologies, such as Webex and Skype.
  • Ability to respond to and resolve IT Service Desk audio visual requests to completion with innovative customer support techniques and support strategies while complying with Department and State IT standards, policy and guidelines.
  • Ability to coordinate audio-visual conferencing and presentations needs, and analyzing customer requirements to determine the most effective and efficient audio-visual support system to reach the desired outcome.
  • Ability to upgrade and support conferencing systems and services while working with A/V and Network teams to research, test and implement new audio-visual technology. Experienced with performing regular maintenance checks of equipment and troubleshoot, perform minor repairs, and facilitate service repairs of audio-visual equipment. Experienced testing, verifying and installing software updates on conferencing and audio-visual equipment.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Ability to exercise a high degree of initiative; have independence of action and originality; demonstrate tact and exercise sound judgment that recognizes the best interests of the State and the CPUC.
  • Ability to maintain technical documentation including work instructions, procedures, and customer assistance documents.
  • Ability to assist with the installation of hardware and software. Ability to assist with the troubleshooting of problems with software such as MS Office Desktop Products, Office 365, Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel and other applications on Windows 10 platform.
  • Ability to use the department’s standard Universal Image to deploy desktop computers, laptops and other peripherals. Provide options for improving work processes using technology.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective communication and
  • working relationships. Ability to assist other Service Desk and ITSD staff in resolving hardware/software/network problems. 
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, adapt to changing priorities and to organize/prioritize workload to meet demands.
