Job Summary: 

The Senior Financial Analyst will be responsible for the reporting and analysis of NRG’s cash flows. This position will be responsible for the consolidated monthly and quarterly cash flow analysis and reporting, preparation of the annual cash flow budget and long-term plans as well as cash flow forecasts. The Senior Financial Analyst will work on ad hoc strategic and financial analysis and reporting as requested by the CFO, VP of FP&A and other senior management. 

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

The key responsibility for this position is to prepare financial models and analyses for NRG consolidated and specific NRG entities for Cash Flows Actual results, Budget, Forecasts and Analysis for use by Senior Management to evaluate the company’s cash flow performance and to assist in decision making. This includes:

  • Prepare reports and perform analysis of consolidated cash flow results against budget, forecast, prior period, and prior year results
  • Develop the consolidated cash flow budget and forecasts
  • Provide support for materials related to the review of the cash flow budget and forecast with the business Controllers/Finance/Business leads
  • Prepare debt covenant forecast calculations
  • Compile capital expenditure reports
  • Assist in determination of key value drivers of segment cash flows and business valuations 
  • Assist in providing data for the company’s earnings releases, Rating Agency meetings and other corporate functions
  • Assist in the preparation of presentations and support materials to Senior Management and the Board of Directors
  • Prepare additional routine reports, special reports and complex financial models for the CFO, VP of FP&A and other senior management as necessary
  • Utilize financial management reporting system to upload and retrieve data
  • Ensure financial models are accurate and maintained
  • Complete ad-hoc projects and provide analytical support as needed

Working Conditions:

  • Open office environment
  • Some overtime required as special projects arise
  • Minimal travel

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree with concentration in finance and/or accounting or comparable business field required
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in cash flows and financial analysis

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3-4+ years of experience in cash flows and financial analysis
  • CPA or CFA strongly preferred
  • Knowledge of GAAP principles
  • Strong financial modeling including valuation modeling skills (DCF, ROI, etc.)
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments on a timely basis with a high degree of accuracy
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint and Word
  • Experience with Hyperion Planning and Essbase

Additional Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to conduct financial modeling and data-driven analysis
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Proficient in handling multiple concurrent projects in a in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; able to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization in verbal and written form.

Physical Requirements:

  • The worker is required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing financial reports and models and analyzing data and figures on a computer; reading; writing.
