Job Description

The incumbent is responsible for performing all required job functions to carry out accurate packaging, labeling, shipping and receipt of raw materials and/or finished goods. He/She is expected to follow all necessary safety and quality standards to ensure the receipt and delivery of the highest quality products in a timely manner.

Duties include: unload and sign for freight exercising proper procedures; repackage material in damaged containers; properly record and label received materials and samples as necessary for testing; inspect and document tote tanks returned; assist with used empty drum removal; assist Inventory Control by physically counting inventory items; properly prepare, inspect, and store waste for shipping out; store company records in designated areas; label Q.C. passed materials and place them in stock using proper stock rotation guidelines; clean and organize warehouse; deliver non-warehoused items to intended recipient; label and store out of spec, rejected, and scrap materials in proper holding areas; maintain and assist in appropriately discarding shipping/receiving records; computer entry of received goods and raw materials (and communicating any discrepancies with buyer); secure raw materials until inspected and passed.

Additionally, incumbent will be responsible for: processing of shipments and receipts through SAP; proper knowledge, handling, and labeling of hazardous materials; completing hazardous and non-hazardous paper work; proper packaging of finished goods; ensuring the quality and accuracy of all shipments and labels; understand and stay current on shipping regulations and customer requirements.

He/she must maintain storage of materials with effective warehouse space management in a safe and clean environment, and maintain department work/instructions and procedures pertaining to company quality policy. Additionally, he/she is responsible for controlling costs through effective utilization of equipment and suggesting updates to processes and procedures for the distribution department.

The incumbent is responsible for the inspection and sampling of shipped/received materials to ensure quality and accuracy. He/she will assist inventory control as needed for maintaining sufficient levels necessary for needed operations. This includes proper labeling, storage, and documentation of inventory.

Incumbent will need to assist in cross training of interdepartmental personnel. Non-essential duties may include reporting low inventories of office and janitorial supplies and assisting in the handling and ordering of uniforms.

MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires experience in problem solving and effective communication skills as well as prior experience with shipment/receipt of materials. Incumbent must be/have:

  • Willing and able to work a 1st shift or 2nd shift position, shift is still TBD
  • Capable of learning and understanding the computer software used by distribution (Easy Label, Lord Web and Safety Training, SAP screens, and programs used to access work instructions)
  • Able to understand hazardous material identification systems and spill prevention programs
  • Previous training in hazardous materials handling
  • Ability to drive a forklift
  • Possess planning and organization skills necessary to facilitate activities within the scope of distribution
  • Ability to read, learn and understand any regulations that pertain to our industry
  • Ability to lift up to 75 pounds

NON-MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:

  • A basic knowledge of chemistry and/or extensive hazardous materials knowledge or experience
  • Knowledge and demonstration of continuous improvement techniques
  • Extensive work experience in shipping and/or receiving departments
  • Ability to perform light maintenance on shipping/receiving equipment
