Job Description
Operating metal fabricating machinery by performing semi-skilled tasks as described below.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Set up and operate various machines to form parts. Machines include, but are not limited to, non-computer programmable press equipment, drill gantry and saws.
- Position sheets/parts into the press appropriately.
- Cycle machine using appropriate palm button mechanism.
- Lifts, moves, clamps and bolts dies and fixtures on various machinery.
- Fills tanks and oil cups with lubricants.
- Helps lift and position work pieces.
- Brushes or blows dirt from dies.
- Removes work piece and scrap from machines.
- Files, grinds or scrapes sharp edges, burrs, scales or rust from work pieces.
- Hammers out bent or warped spots in metal.
- Sorts, marks or tags finished work.
- Transports material or signals crane operator to move materials.
- Compares work piece with straight edge or template to verify conformance to specifications.
- Cleans work area, machines, tools and equipment.
- Performs other routine duties as needed.
Qualifications
- Press Brake Experience a plus
- CNC Operating Experience Preferred but not required
- Works well with hands and hand tools
- Competent in accurate Blue Print reading skills
- Proficient in tape measure usage
- Basic math skills required
- Organizational skills required
Education and/or Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent is preferred; one to three years experience is preferred.
Additional information
- Safely operates required equipment and has no previous safety violations
- Must be able to follow written and oral directions
- Prefer prior Fabrication (Press, Shear, Fab) experience.
