Job Summary:

Plume develops and deploys cloud based control planes with scale to manage tens of millions of customer homes through some of the world’s largest Internet Service Providers. Our cloud applications include WiFi network management and optimization, device access control, network provisioning, IoT security, and end customer user interaction through mobile apps. 

This is a fulltime position located in our Palo Alto, CA office.

We are a fast-paced growing company in need of a well-rounded individual with a penchant for technology to join our growing team, providing best-in-class IT services. You will play a key role on a small team responsible for the operational success of the core IT infrastructure services globally at Plume. You’ll inherit some systems and processes that you’ll help improve as we grow.

You're a jack-of-all-trades in the IT realm and can easily switch context between planning a new VLAN and routing, configuring SAML for a SaaS application's authentication mechanism, and then writing JAMF policies. Your work ethic is top notch and your boss will never need to micro-managae you. You're uncomfortable with monotonous days, preferring a dynamic environment with ever-changing needs. You're a seeker of new technology, eager to learn and stay up-to-date with the latest happenings in the tech world. You have experience with writing helpful documentation, teaching those less tech-savvy about the great new features that you've just deployed. You never reuse a password, ever. 

Responsibilities:

  • Administration and lifecycle management of employee workstations, conference room, A/V equipment, printers, scanners, and accessories
  • Participate in the design, maintenance, and security of internal IT strategy, including software deployment, configuration, patching, and on-call rotation
  • Day-to-day helpdesk trouble tickets
  • User administration of services such as Google G-Suite, Okta, AWS, LDAP
  • Facilitate knowledge sharing and self-service by creating and maintaining detailed and comprehensive documentation and diagrams detailing our internal systems.
  • Help define and fine-tune standards and processes related to IT 
  • Availability for periodic after-hours maintenance windows
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills enabling you to communicate effectively with employees at all levels across the globe.
  • Sharp critical thinking skills to drive appropriate responses to user requests

Qualifications:

  • Four or more years experience or with increasing responsibilities in complex environments in various areas of IT
  • Experience in a corporate IT environment with internal customers
  • Skilled self-starter, able to identify needs and bring them to resolution without oversight
  • Experience managing users, groups, and security applied at each level to follow the principle of least privilege
  • Strong understanding and ability to troubleshoot and maintain MacOS, Windows, Linux desktops and servers
  • Strong team player, able to keep up with fast-paced teams and rapid changes
  • Highly motivated individual with a thirst for knowledge and want to take on increasingly bigger challenges
  • Ability to collaborate and provide support to all staff; technical and non-technical alike
  • Ability to use and maintain ticketing systems, IT health monitoring systems, centralized logging, and on-call services
  • Networking: thorough understanding of networking fundamentals, VLANs, routing, subnet masks, WiFi
  • Ability to lift 50lbs. Moving and installing equipment such as switches and monitors will often be part of your responsibilities
  • Able to expand at least 15 IT-related acronyms without assistance
  • Ability to think on your feet, able to quickly formulate puns and use them effectively. (Optional)
