MTM, Inc. continues to grow and we are seeking an Orientation Mobility Specialist

Our Orientation Mobility Specialist is tasked with outreach and education to schools and other agencies serving individuals with disabilities to teach people how to use public transportation. The Orientation Mobility Specialist will educate individuals on a wide range of skills including: trip planning, street crossing, bus and train travel, map and schedule reading, and safety skills, while utilizing public transportation. 

This position is located at our office in downtown Saint Louis, MO.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct group presentations
  • Establish relationships with professionals in the field, community and advocacy organizations
  • Establish referral process
  • Complete in-person intake and assessment
  • Provide one-on-one, individualized field training
  • Schedule training at the time and location of the specific routes requested
  • Instruct individuals on transit skills
  • Instruct individuals on how to travel routes including navigation and way-finding strategies
  • Instruct individuals on self-advocacy
  • Create lesson plans that are appropriate for individuals of different learning levels
  • Conduct outreach to develop materials
  • Provide in class and in-the-field training to professionals 
  • Complete all reports and paperwork including but not limited to; initial intake, goal setting and plan, progressive evaluation, pre and post-test, final and follow-up report, satisfaction survey
  • Must conform to MTM’s HIPAA standards

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
  • Bachelor’s degree in social services, orientation and mobility instruction or a related field or equivalent work experience
  • Travel training experience, preferred
  • Intermediate level of proficiency or above with the Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel and Outlook
  • Experience working with people with a range of disabilities
  • Experience working with disability and/or community advocacy organizations, preferred
  • Familiarity with the transit agency system, preferred
  • Familiarity with the American with Disabilities Act (ADA)
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States and not require work authorization sponsorship by our company for this position now or in the future
