Overview of the role
You will be responsible for the design, installation, maintenance, customization, and support of Linux operating system, servers, and complimentary products in an enterprise environment. Monitors and tunes systems to achieve optimum performance and ensure system integrity. Develops and promotes operating procedures and conducts audits to ensure compliance. Develops and maintains a comprehensive operating system library of all supporting documentation. Implements automation procedures wherever possible.
Duties and responsibilities
You will:
- Be responsible for the architecture, implementation, operation, and support of Janus Henderson’s RedHat Linux server environment and supporting products for a multi-tiered software/application environment.
- Ensure that Linux OS backup and recovery techniques are being applied and properly configured on production systems.
- Provide Tier 3 support to other Linux Administrators/Engineers, and provides training and development of junior staff.
- Be involved in all key IT infrastructure projects to ensure required standards are met and a successful implementation path is established.
- Coordinate with vendors and manufactures to resolve operating system or hardware related problems.
- Work closely with the database team to provide a stable and properly tuned Oracle infrastructure.
- Build and maintain task automation procedures utilizing Ansible.
- Maintain and troubleshoot systems with SELinux enforcement enabled.
- Employ DevOps best practices on infrastructure components where possible.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned.
Supervisory responsibilities
Technical skills and qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of RedHat/Linux operating systems (version 6 and 7), including application layer products such as Apache, NGINX, Red Hat Satellite, and container platforms such as Docker.
- Advanced knowledge of Linux Red Hat administration, security, and data access techniques
- Advanced knowledge of Linux Red Hat performance tuning and auditing techniques.
- Ability to compose/execute shell scripts in one or more of the following: Bourne/Korn/Bash, PERL, Ruby or Python
- Skills in any/all of these areas a plus: SELinux, Samba, Jenkins, Azure DevOps, Sensu or Splunk
- Strong understanding of Linux based web server technology
- Significant diverse work experience in Information Technology
- Experience in Linux operating systems and Linux based middleware administration, security, data access techniques, performance tuning and auditing in a complex enterprise environment
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience is required
- RedHat or other Linux certification a plus

- Moderate knowledge of vSphere, and deployment of infrastructure to VMware products.
Ongoing competence in the role to be assessed, in line with applicable regulatory requirements, by:
- Annual performance appraisal
- Completion of all assigned compliance training
- Annual attestation (Knowledge and Competence in-scope roles only)
