Principal Systems Engineer - Mission Systems, Advanced Technology Center(ATC)
Role Overview:
This is a position for a Principal Systems Engineer in the Advanced Technology Center’s Communication and Electronic Warfare Systems group. This position will develop proof of concept systems beginning from initial concept formulation through TRL 6 flight demonstration. The engineer will be part of a team that captures and leads programs for the advanced development of a diverse array of multifunction RF systems cooperating with communications, RADAR, and EW applications. These systems and applications will leverage investment in software, firmware, and hardware specialties in other departments, so interpersonal skills are critical.
Candidate desired (but optional) skills:
- Experience with a range of software systems that support communications, EW, and RADAR
- Experience with a range of learning algorithms and how those algorithms can most efficiently extract information from the data generated by RF systems that support communications, EW, and RADAR
- Demonstrated ability to analyze systems and propose and implement custom algorithms to autonomously optimize those systems
- Experience developing software for autonomous decision making using machine learning both in-situ and with pre-defined data sets
- Demonstrated ability to analyze systems and propose custom algorithms to counter those systems (e.g. technique EA, direction finding, communications modes, RADAR imaging, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with external agencies and companies to maximize the benefit to Collins Aerospace
- Experience supporting or leading capture teams for advanced program development and providing subsequent leadership on those developments for customers like DARPA, ONR, etc.
- Experience leading and executing technology demonstrations at customer facilities
- Ability to contribute to the development of long term Communication and EW technology roadmaps
Basic Qualifications:
- This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 10 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 7 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 14 years of relevant experience is required.
- US Citizenship is required
- An active DoD security clearance is required
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline and a minimum of 10 years' of relevant experience
- Experience with a range of learning algorithms and how those algorithms can most efficiently extract information from the data generated by RF systems that support communications, EW, and RADAR
- Demonstrated ability to analyze systems and propose and implement custom algorithms to autonomously optimize those systems
