Advanced EO Mechanical I Section Manager (SM) is the front-line leader in the Advanced EO Design and Lasers Department. The SM is responsible for the direct supervision of up to 18 Engineers that provide technical solutions to a wide range of complex problems related to the design, documentation, build, and integration of EO/IR system hardware for The Advanced Concepts Technologies (ACT) and other Mission Areas. The SM should be familiar with the design environment and documentation methods, and proposals.

Job Related Activities:
- Interface between the department and the supported programs
- Oversight of technical, cost, and schedule concerns for projects generated by members of the section
- Decisions on administrative issues affecting personnel including budget compliance
- Responsible for staffing forecast and strategies
- Support for compensation planning, including section ratings
- Provides career counseling, mentoring, and coaching directly to section personnel
Required Skills:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in an engineering environment
- Minimum 5 years of Experience with design, assembly, and documentation of electro-optical components and sub-systems
- Experience in the development, review, release, and sustaining of hardware documentation
- Experience working Aerospace and/or Department of Defense products
- Effective communication skills, including verbal and written
- Demonstrated leadership ability
- Demonstrated desire to mentor and help others develop new skills
- Ability to effectively juggle multiple tasks and priorities
- U.S. Citizenship is required as this position requires an active Secret DoD Clearance on Day 1 of employment
- Ability to obtain additional level security clearances
Desired Skills:
- Minimum of 2 years of team leadership experience
- Ability to lead diverse teams successfully through the design process
- Solid foundation and understanding of Integrated Product Development System (IPDS)
- Solid knowledge of the hardware development process
- Familiar with engineering metrics and bidding enablers
- Existing Earned Value Management Certification
- Experience with staffing, providing feedback, and interfacing with program leadership
- Current security clearance
- Current access to ACT AEO programs
Required Education (including Major):
- Bachelor’s degree (BS) in Engineering, Math, Science or related field
