Raytheon Technologies Advanced EO Design and Lasers Department is currently seeking a motivated Principal Mechanical Engineer.
This position is responsible for leading a team to execute design, analysis, integration, and test for developmental and deliverable opto-mechanical laser systems. Responsibilities include working across multidisciplinary technical teams on cutting edge development and demonstration programs. The selected candidate will join a highly motivated group of engineers and laser physicists working on a variety of development tasks and deliverable products. The successful applicant shall be a highly motivated “self-starter” able to take action with limited direction, and execute on complicated hardware programs within the High Energy Laser (HEL) product family.
The Principal Mechanical Engineer will have extensive experience in mechanical design including proposal generation, preliminary and detailed design, documentation, and support to fabrication, assembly and test of high reliability mechanical and electronic systems for various Military, Government and Commercial applications. Working as part of an integrated product team, the position requires general technical knowledge in the mechanical engineering field. Proficiency with Creo CAD modeling tools and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing methods is strongly desired. Design opportunities include solving complex transient thermal problems, CCA and electronic packaging, and packaging of custom and Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) components within enclosures. Experience with the integration of COTS electronics into military enclosures is strongly desired.
