Role Overview:

Collins Aerospace is looking for a Software Engineer with a passion for engineering and the desire to be part of an innovative, dedicated team responsible for industry-leading military Global Positioning Systems (GPS) products. Our team needs passionate security engineers interested in architecting, designing, and developing software for real-time embedded navigation products. As a part of this team, you will have responsibilities to perform software engineering tasks. These tasks include software requirements capture, software design, software implementation, integration, and testing to meet product requirements. 

Candidates must have basic knowledge of security engineering principles involving network security, computer security, cryptographic algorithms, key management, and secure software development. Candidates must have excellent communications and teamwork skills and will be responsible for working with a large team involved in the implementation of security solutions that will be embedded in Military GPS products. 

The successful candidate should be experienced in the following general skills:

  • High motivation to solve problems and continuously improve existing products
  • Desire to contribute to a results oriented product development team
  • Solid understanding of software development processes for real-time embedded hardware/software applications 
  • Excellent verbal and written technical communication skills
  • Ability to work well with a diverse team
  • A genuine desire to learn and innovate 

In addition to the general skills listed, the ideal candidate will bring experience from the following specific technologies and engineering tools:

  • Software requirements and architectural skills with functional decomposition, subsystem interface definition, technology application, and analysis
  • Strong writing skills necessary to produce documentation required for security certification evaluation
  • Experience with embedded hardware and real time hardware systems
  • Experience with Eclipse, Jira, and DOORS
  • Experience with Ada, C, C++ or other high-order languages in an embedded application environment
  • Experience with Python test scripting
  • An understanding of cryptography, Software Assurance, Anti-Tamper, or Information Assurance

Basic Qualifications:

  • This position requires a Bachelor’s degree in the appropriate discipline and 5 years of relevant experience or an Advanced degree in the appropriate discipline and 3 years of relevant experience. In the absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Candidate must have ability to obtain a U.S. DoD security clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required.
