Operational Risk Opportunities at The Commonwealth Bank of Australia

You will be part of a high-performing, well respected team focused on delivering a high-quality technology risk and controls management service for Enterprise Services divisions. The roles will work closely with Platform owners across ES and the business to strengthen and drive effective Operational Risk Management and assist with uplifting controls and risk culture.

You will play a vital role in the execution of strategic initiatives within ES Controls Office to improve team effectiveness and performance, drive capability uplift activity and exemplify a strong and proactive risk culture.

Enterprise Services (ES) is responsible for the world leading application of technology and operations across every aspect of CommBank, from innovative product platforms for our customers to essential tools within our business. We also use technology to drive efficient and timely processing, an essential component of great customer service.

Within ES, the Chief Controls Office is a first line of accountability function who are a group of trusted and skilled risk management experts empowering our business.

The purpose of the Chief Controls Office is to enable our business to be safe, sound and secure underpinned by strong risk management.

The Chief Controls Office works in partnership with the Enterprise Services business to deliver safe, sound and secure risk outcomes with:

• Risk management framework and tools
• Risk expertise and coaching
• Controls that are efficient, effective, sustainable and automated
• A greater preventative focus rather than detective
• Risk processes that are simple to understand and apply.

On any given day you will:

• Provide operational and compliance risk advice over a variety of products/strategic initiatives.
• Support the development and maintenance of risk profiles and contribute to updates on relevant operational risk within the bank.
• Support with remediation and closure of identified risk incidents & issues.
• Monitor Control Assurance activities completed ensuring identified control gaps/weakness.
• Prepare monthly risk reports and risk forum packs for stakeholders.
• Coach and mentor team members and peers to help develop their risk knowledge.

We’re interest in people who possess

• Operational Risk and Risk Management experience across all industries.
• Demonstrated ability to build business relationships and manage stakeholder expectations.
• Sound understanding of risk management frameworks, controls & reporting.
• Relevant qualifications and/or certifications.
