CE14: Mgr III Software Engineer – Section Manager-Radar Software Team

Job Summary:

Looking for an opportunity to make a difference? We are currently seeking a Section Manager-Radar Software to join the Command & Control, and Battle Field Radar Software (C2BFR) team in Fullerton, CA.

The Section Manager provides guidance, leadership, and management to a section of 15 to 20 Software Engineers working the Radar domain and programs. Additionally, the Section Manager is responsible for employee performance development and assessment and to ensure all personnel are properly prepared and trained for the scope of their task. The Section Manager is a part of the C2BFR software leadership team, helping to achieve the department goals, participating or leading initiatives in program execution, innovation and quality improvements using Agile, DevOps and Six Sigma methods.

Specific Section Manager Duties Include:

• Ensure that each employee has suitable work assignments and opportunities for growth and advancement
• Provide coaching, career development and salary planning for the section
• Ensure section members adhere to Raytheon policy and support Raytheon’s vision and goals
• Ensure section members are trained for their role and assigned tasks
• Provide technical or managerial contributions to one or more Radar domain programs
• Improve productivity and quality of the section’s efforts/products
• Support to the Software Engineering Department Manager and Directorate
• Work as a technical lead or individual contributor; Section Manager duties on average are 10% of the manager’s time

This position requires an Active Secret DoD Clearance.

Required Skills/Experience:

• 10+ years of experience in Software or Systems Engineering
• Demonstrated success managing a project
• Team leadership and management
• Radar domain or embedded systems
• C/C++ or Ada
• DevOps/Agile tools and techniques
• Strong communication skills, interpersonal and decision-making skills
• Earned Value management

Required Education:

BS or MS with an emphasis in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or Software Engineering

Desired Skills/Experience:

• Active secret clearance
• Prior experience in a Section Manager or Program Leadership role
• Agile scrum master or product owner
• Software metrics and cost estimation
• Customer focus and collaboration skills
• Effective presence and influential leadership capability, with the ability to interact with senior levels of leadership effectively – including customers, Raytheon teammates and suppliers
• Proven experience with software development techniques and tools
• EVMS certified
• Experience with the Estimate at Complete (EAC) process
• Experience with software bids on proposals
• Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or Software Engineering
