The Systems Engineering Center (SEC) Protected Communication Systems Department is involved all aspects of Systems Engineering across the program lifecycle of Protected Communication Systems programs within the Integrated Communications System (ICS) Mission Area. The systems engineering activities includes architecture development, CONOPS development, trade studies, modeling and simulation, systems/software/hardware requirements analysis, as well as integration, validation and verification. The Department supports a variety of communications systems including SATCOM (including AEHF, EHF, X-Band, Ka-Band, Ku-Band, C-Band, and PTW), Line-of-Site (LOS) Radio Terminals and Secure Switching Networks.

JOB SUMMARY

We are currently seeking an experienced Principal Systems Engineer to join our dynamic and rapidly growing team. Ideal candidate would have technical experience with Secure Telecommunications Products, Secure Switching Networks, Circuit Switching Systems, SATCOM, and Line-of-Site (LOS) Radio Terminals for ground based, ship, and/or airborne platforms. Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering (IBM CLM Jazz tools), Model Driven Test Environment, methods & tool integration and SysML preferred.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

This position is responsible for performing a wide range of duties of a highly responsible and confidential nature in support of the organization's mission and goals. The Principal Systems Engineer will be responsible for conducting trade studies, modeling/simulation, performing systems/software/hardware requirements analysis as well as integration, validation and verification activities. Periodic travel will be required in support of program design and development activities. This position is located in Largo, Florida and reports directly to the Systems Engineering, Center (SEC) Section Manager.

Required Skills

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in Systems, Software or Hardware engineering.
  • Ability to work within a structured Systems Engineering process environment including a task oriented, value based management system.
  • Ability to interact effectively with multidisciplinary teams of system design professionals including electrical, mechanical, software and logistics engineers
  • Background and competency in requirements development, analysis, derivations, verification and validation
  • Ability to travel periodically in support of program design and development activities
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position requires the ability to obtain DoD Secret U.S. Security Clearance within one year of start date and will require the ability to access US only data systems

Desired Skills

  • Active Secret or Top Secret clearance
  • Working knowledge of Earned Value Management System (EVMS), engineering tools (e.g., IBM CLM Jazz Tools, DOORS, Rhapsody, MATLAB)
  • Technical experience with Secure Telecommunications Products, Secure Switching Networks, Circuit Switching Systems, SATCOM, and Line-of-Site (LOS) Radio Terminals for ground based, ship, and/or airborne platforms
  • Willing to take on leadership roles on programs
  • Experienced presenter with prior responsibility for interfacing with customers, management, technical staff, and internal / external organizations.
  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal, and presentation) and be able to effectively communicate with IPT leaders, program chief engineers, hardware and software development engineers, specialty engineers, program managers, and customer representatives
  • Experience with Model Based Systems Engineering, Model Driven Test Environment, methods, tool integration, automation & workflows, SysML, communication and secure voice/data networking architectures

Required Education

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) from an accredited educational institution (i.e. Engineering, Physics, Mathematics,etc.)

Desired Education

  • Master of Science degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) from an accredited educational institution (i.e. Engineering, Physics, Mathematics)
