Working in Mount Laurel, NJ within 30 minutes of Philadelphia, PA, the Combat System Integrator will provide Subject Matter Expertise in support of the Navy’s newest surface combatant Radar and Combat System integration at the Navy’s Land Based integration facility. The SPY-6 radar is a high performance, complex shipboard S-band AESA radar system being integrated with the Navy’s newest Aegis Combat System Baseline. In support of radar and Combat System integration and testing, the SPY-6 Combat System Integrator will:

  • Solve complex integration issues between the radar, the combat system and other external interfaces
  • Identify and resolve system performance issues
  • Verify new functionality
  • Maintain the software baseline of the radar
  • Verify software modifications
  • Support testing events
  • Collect and analyze data via test equipment and mission system equipment
  • Develop tools and solutions
  • Support all functional capability integration, test, and operational activities.

The role involves working collaboratively with other SMEs (e.g. Radar, Systems, Receiver/Exciter, Power, AAW element etc.) under the direction of the group lead, coordinating with senior software SMEs in Massachusetts, other Combat System SMEs, US Government customer and other contractors. Opportunities exist to support and learn algorithm architecture and systems engineering, conceptual design development, performance assessment and modeling and the use of emerging and advanced technologies.

This role will start with a one year assignment in NJ followed by support at various sites including shipyard locations. Candidate could permanently reside in NJ, MA or shipyard locations in ME, VA or MS.

Required Skills:

  • 4 years of experience with Naval Combat Systems on any of the in-service configurations and/or experience in Radar, Command & Control or Mobile sensors (JLENS, DBR, Zumwalt, Aegis, etc.)
  • Experience with technical software and on DoD integration and/or test programs
  • Experience with software languages such as C, C++, MATLAB and Java
  • Familiarity with one or more of the following platforms/operating systems: Cisco, IBM BladeCenter, Linux
  • Experience writing and mitigating System Trouble Reports
  • This position requires the eligibility to obtain a security clearance

Desired Skills:

  • Knowledge of Combat System testing procedures and the ability to analyze test results and report findings
  • Background in AEGIS Combat System Equipment concept of operations
  • Background in integration and test methods, processes and development of integration and test plans and procedures
  • Understanding of software development collaboration tools (Clearcase, DOORS, SharePoint)
  • An understanding of US Navy preventive and corrective maintenance procedures and proficiency in reading technical documents is desired Experience with large scale Ship Integration and Test practices
  • Familiarity with applicable documentation: Computer Program Requirements Specifications (CPRS), Interface Design Specification (IDS), Computer Program Description Documents (CPDD), Combat System Technical Operations Manual (CSTOM), Combat Systems Operational Sequencing System (CSOSS), Quick Reference Guide (QRG) Data Analysis and Automated Testing techniques
  • Experienced with operation and maintenance of Phased Array Radar hardware/software.

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, science or related curriculum
