Raytheon Intelligence and Space, located in Aurora, Colorado is looking for a candidate to join our excellent engineering team as a Solution Train Engineer.
Reporting to the M2C2 Mission Engineering (ME) Lead, the Solution Train Engineer (STE) for the M2C2 program is a critical position and plays a key role in the success of the M2C2. The STE is the servant leader and coach for the entire Solution Train on the M2C2 program. This role works closely with Solution Managers, Agile Release Train Engineers (RTEs), Product Managers, Program, & IPT Leadership to de-conflict program priorities, resolve cross-team issues, lead the Program-level Scrum of Scrums and Program Increment (PI) Planning and facilitates cross-team/cross-discipline coordination and communication.
A bonus of "up to" $40,000.00 is available to hired applicants with an active TS/SCI, or higher clearance.
Responsibilities:
- Guide the program and Agile teams on how to use Agile/Scrum practices and values to deliver high quality software; Familiarity with common Agile practices, cloud-based environments, and modern development practices
- Knowledge and/or experience with widely successful Agile techniques; Understand backlog tracking, burndown metrics, velocity, and task definition
- Must be able to ensure Agile/Scrum concepts and principles are adhered to, must be able to be a voice of reason and authority
- Conduct/Lead quarterly PI Planning and develop release metrics; Understand incremental delivery and the value of metrics
- Leads Program-level Scrum-of-Scrums to manage impediments
- Work with Solution Management to define the Release and Build Plan priorities
- Conduct and Publish Lessons Learned from each PI
- Excellent communication and mentoring skills; Must be able to communicate well with teams
- Engages with key customer contacts, Solution Managers, RTEs and with Product Managers as required to ensure that all relevant inputs to the Solution Backlog have been collected and prioritized
- Responsible for working with the ART—Level RTEs and Product Managers to ensure Feature completion and ensures Features meet the acceptance criteria
- Must be able to notice differences and issues, prioritize and assign program resources to resolution
- Keep management informed of impacts and solution paths for ongoing issues
- Must be able to facilitate discussion and facilitate alternatives or different approaches
- Understand basic fundamentals of modern Agile/DevOps software development processes and procedures
- Understand other processes and methodologies and can speak intelligently about them and leverage other techniques to provide value to a team/enterprise
- Understand the value of commitments to delivery made by a development team
- Identify development risks and opportunities with associated risk mitigation and opportunity capture plans. Participate in the program Risk and Opportunity Management Board (ROMB)
- Work with the ME Lead and Program Engineering to report Agile Development Metrics
- An excellent communicator/facilitator who can relate to the technical within the team and facilitate effective and efficient meetings
Required Skills:
- 10+ years of experience working in the software development/aerospace industry
- Active TS/SCI clearance
- 2-4+ years of experience as a Section / Line Manager
- 2-4+ years of experience as a SW or Systems Engineering Program / Task Manager
- Ability to lead / manage tasks over a large group of engineers (100+) and coordinate issues/priorities across disciplines
- Ability to manage, train and mentor junior engineers
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Current in the technologies, methodologies, processes and tools used in the software industry with a demonstrated track record of deploying these on programs.
- Existing SCI security clearance
- Experience with Application Lifecycle Management applications
- Strong understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle
- Record of High Performance and proven/well-developed problem-solving skills
- Can engage multiple roles and stakeholders in critical discussions and building consensus
Desired Skills:
- Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Math or other relevant technical discipline.
- CSM (Certified Scrum Master) / CSPO (Certified Scrum Product Owner)
- Experience using a Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe)
- Experience using JIRA and associated plugins.
- Experience with Information Assurance and Cyber Security requirements.
Required Education (including Major):
Bachelor’s Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), or related STEM degree program from an Accredited University/School/College with 10+ years of relevant work experience
